As an Israeli Jew, I must say that I feel like we Jews aren't giving the Druze enough respect and recognition for their contribution and involvement in the state. We are the first to show gratitude to them when they enlist in the army like us and for the sacrifice of their fallen soldiers, but we tend to forget about them when they finish their service. Their infrastructure in their towns is often old and unmaintained (their waterpipes sometimes freeze on cold days in the winter), they are treated like Arabs in security checks at the airport (which is a different issue in general, but the Druze definitely don't deserve that shitty attitude), and the government tends to ignore their opinion on domestic and national issues, like what happened with the Jewish State Basic Law a few years ago. They deserve to have recognition and quality of life more than all of us, and it makes me sad to see them being ignored by the public unless it is Memorial Day.

Druze are still respected members of Israeli society, and im proud to have known them and serve with them.

What a great and fun analysis! I want more! Can you please do separate talks on Ethiopian Jews? I loved your talk. I am non Jewish, non Christian. Not religious at all. But I am deeply sympathetic to Israel and the Jewish people. I’ve studied the topic for most of my adult life, voraciously reading everything from all sides. I came to my own conclusion after much analysts not just an emotion. I find them to be a curious phenomena. No other group of people have been so discriminated against and reviled. You can almost call them a “miracle” how they have not only survived but thrived! Jews are very much the indigenous people of the land to say otherwise is just another legitimization tactic. Israel has many issues and problems but it is very much a democracy. It’s a young nation only 75 years young, it’s a work in progress just like another younger nation- the United States. No other country has achieved what Israel has in its short history in Middle East. Heck, many countries in the world. Hence much of the envy they receive. I am confident that in the years to come it will work out its internal problems. Am Yisrael Chai! 🇮🇱🤍🇮🇱

Adding to Motti’s reply, technically, also the vast majority of the Christians of Israel/Palestine and the rest of the Levant are not ethnic Arab, but are of Aramaic, Assyrian, and Canaanite roots, some of course still retain these identities to this day like the Syriac/Assyrian/Chaldean churches, as well as retaining the Aramaic language.... Yup. Same with Poland Czech China Vietnam.....everyone. Just like the Arab republic of Syria. Lebanon and Iraq are countries who tried to blend too many ethnic groups and religious sects and it never quite worked out. Maybe Iraq can be next. A Sunni Arab Hashemite country which is west Iraq and south and east Syria and Jordan. An alawite country in the north west. A Christian Maronite country. The borders in the Middle East today ethnically make no sense it’s almost as if the British wanted to divide and conquer so they purposely made those specific borders so that none of those countries would have a chance at being completely peaceful(except for Jordan, who, you guessed it, are mostly Sunni Arab or Bedouin so not too much diversity)
@danielalbo49944 жыл бұрын
However, Germany, never implied anywhere that Germany is a German nation state. It’s technically just like America, a multicultural state, as there is no mention of the state and land in connection to the German people the way Israel is specified to be an entity for the Jewish people inside the homeland and outside the homeland in the diaspora. I think England and Japan are nation states tho

Accurate and articulate. Great upload. If you come to Israel to visit, I will gladly introduce you to both religious and nonreligious Drùze. Amazing people. You are amazing as well.

yeah, Druze are a very small minority in the middle east one of the 22 secterian and ethnicities that the middle east is rich with, and it's normal no one hear about them. :) but unfortunately we are titled in the west directly as terorists if they knew I'm from the middle east XD.

wow, i haven't seen such a well balanced and insightful video that is also entertaining to watch in a very long time. usually need to sit threw long lecture series to get some of the insights presented so simply and openly here. well done! and yes - Israel owes a debt to the Druze that can never be paid back, i was really sorry about how the nation state law hurt them - even though it was aimed at something else.

Avner Senderowicz Appreciate your comment The state law didn’t change anything really, only the dignity of the Druze people was a little betrayed. But they live on like they have most of their lives. Survivors

Enjoyed it although I did not know who you were. Saw you on Coleman Hughes. I too am strongly attracted to Israeli culture, in particular the ladino speaking Sephardi. I hope you get to do something on them. We black folks should walk the earth proudly, but never limit ourselves to what others think we should be. Look forward to your other work.

well actually that's the first video I see it about the religion that I've born in. pretty much precise and good research but yet still missed some stuff which is normal because Druze are a very small community in the middle east, there's also something about Druze as a tip, no one can also enter the religion even if he/she wants, and their ties to the religion is strong, some knows why it's strong becuase it's called "the religion of mind and intellect", some unfortunately don't exactly know why like any other religion where there are people who know nothing about their religion otherthan that they have born in, and also Druze have a very strong ties to thier land no matter who rules it, because they respect everyones way of living in the day to day life and care about prosparety more than political ambitions. But thank you for the good documentary very much appreciated.

You yourself are making generalizations about a "people" ....model citizens...you have no idea who these individuals are or there opinions about the government...simple fact....for all you know there opinion are pro or anti government so you can't call them model citizens because you don't know each and everyone of them ...its better to look at everyone as not only as a potential threat but also the current one ...just so your not left off Gaurd when someone does something not so nice😡😡😡 2:30....in this world your either a Christian or a sinner....your a changed man or hell bound everything like race or politics mean nothing we will all suffer and die but only the worthy will receive salvation ...it seams your words are wasted 2:35

I'm not sure of the underlining specifics but Israel did try to protect the Druze community in Syria during Assad's reign of terror.

Because they are Syrian citizens and didn't contribute to Israeli society. Only Israeli Druze do.

@@biblicalones4623 According to this article, it's quite complicated. However it seems that the goal still is to protect the local Druze population in Syria. But the Israelis just aren't sure which group to back to do it. They want Assad's Syrian government to fall in any case, which is where the complications come into play. www.mintpressnews.com/israel-occupy-syria-town-near-golan-heights-protect-druze/234146/
