The UN is warning of widespread famine in Gaza, with one in four people facing starvation, as food deliveries struggle to get through.
The majority of aid trucks cross through Rafah, on Egypt's border with Gaza. But heavy bombardment is hampering efforts. Following US pressure, Israel opened the former goods crossing at Kerem Shalom, as well as an inspection station at Nitzana. Both have been blocked by Israeli protests. DW’s Rebecca Ritters reports from the port city of Ashdod.

Israel is not evil, let's put this to rest, if not for anything else, the fact that you can openly read and watch about what is happening there, shows it, even about the things that make it look bad, like this one. Next, please consider the heavy internal debate about feeding your enemy... and even when it comes to Palestinian suffrage, supplying Hamas, which take as much of this aids as it wants, with more fuel will prolong this war that nobody wants to continue, well, perhaps except Hamas themselves. Reduce civilian causalities to a min, do not attack unarmed civilians, provide safe passage and aid to non combatants trying to flee the war zone. These are the most basic expectations of the UN for any country. Israel is at war with Hamas, not unarmed civilians living in Gaza. A good parallel would be the US vs The Taliban in Afghanistan, US was at war with the Taliban while offering humanitarian aid and assistance to the non-combatant population of Afghanistan. That is the minimum expectation of any UN affiliated country.

Then do something about it. You'll find that rights only hold as long as there are those who will protect and enforce them. Russia is still in the UN despite violating its charter. Hamas violated the rights of a lot of Israelis on October 7th, were your words enough to protect them? Will Hamas return its hostages whom it had no right to take in the first place? Hamas brought this upon their people, yet their people haven't turned on them and instead face starvation. Hamas wants to be treated with humanity while they use brutality, they'd never agree to help Israeli civilians who were hungry. What I find terrifying is that with most of these videos we see they are either a day old or happening today! I feel sick! It hurts my heart to watch these videos knowing that nothing is being done to minimize the suffering of the civilian population of Gaza as I wirte this!! What has become of humanity?
