Israeli spokesperson says fighting in north is ‘not a sustainable reality’

Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer said attacks by Hezbollah "have caused significant fires" in northern Israel and gave details of efforts being made to bring them under control.
Mencer said the Israeli government is committed to ensuring the security of tens of thousands of Israelis who were evacuated from the area and to ensuring they return home. He added “It is up to Hezbollah to decide if this can be accomplished by diplomatic means or by force”.
Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz said hostilities on the northern border with Hezbollah will be dealt with by September “whether by [diplomatic] arrangement or [military] escalation”.
