Amazing hardly describes this girl. Watch her eyes. She goes off into some other space when she sings; she lives only in the music, and you can see it takes a minute for her to get back. There are later versions. I was concerned for her vocal cords but the older versions are strong but a bit less rough. Did you notice the note she gave to the man in the beginning. At that young age she is serious and has her own opinions. As she gets older there are signs of her input to the band. Sometimes it's a few words, a nod. Maybe I'm wrong but other young singers seem to go with the band while Angelina is leading her band. Am I imagining this? Her hands have music. It's endearing to see her hand gestures in the beginnings.

Wether accompanied by a single musician or a band, the music always comes out perfectly executed, balanced with her voice, always appropriate for the song. I like her version of "A Million Years Ago", a beautiful Adele song that she sings better than Adele in my opinion. I could not imagine that a singer could do better than Adele singing her own song. Angelina gives it more emotion, more pain, more sorrow, sometimes by whispering the words.

If I knew how to do this I would; you seem to have the technical skills, so maybe you would want to put this together. Many reactors first exposure to Angelina is "I Put a Spell on You" and their reactions are strikingly similar. It would be fun to watch them in sequence (just capturing the first 10-15 seconds after she actually starts singing). It invariably begins with a bit of a grin/snicker, eyes widen, they move closer to their screens, and say "WHAT!" followed by just staring back and forth from at her and their cameras in complete disbelief. Then, maybe string together the first thing they say at the end; almost all of them utter a swear word followed by "I was not expecting that."

Not a gimmick *One last thing you need to know about "The Barefoot Princess" is that she will go barefoot during a performance (live or in studio). The story is that when living in the Middle East, at age 6, she came across an orphaned girl earning money by weighing people on a bathroom scale in the street. She noticed how cold it was and that the 6-7 year old girl was not only barefoot, but had scars on her feet. So 6 year old Angelina took off her own shoes, shoes that she loved, and gave them to the girl. Angelina decided she wouldn't wear shoes in her performances to remind her of all the children in the world who had no parents, proper clothes, or shoes. Hence, you will hear her called "the Barefoot Princess", or the "Barefoot Princess of Jazz". She wrote a book, "Between Two Hearts", about the encounter and illustrated it with her grandmother. Hence, Angelina became the youngest person to be published in Norway. Angelina is active in children charities and has performed to help raise tens of millions of euros.* ..... and yes, she still performs barefoot today

I didn't like this video when i first saw it only because the beginning notes are really low for her plus I don't like to see kids harm their voice. I'm just a tad older than you, at 70, but I could have written your post word for word in any one of the dozens of time I too have had the pleasure of listening to this song. The thing I really wish I could have seen, though, is the moment all of these grizzled old session musicians, probably hired for a one song only recording gig, suddenly became aware of the fact that this wasn't just another little rich girl being indulged by her parents, who must, in their heads, have more money than sense, but were actually about to record a song that was destined to become an all-time classic of the blues/jazz genre. The rehearsal must have been a marvelous event to behold! Just imagine the looks of wonder and amazement on their faces!

@@RaymondCore Sorry to burst your bubble, Core Therapies, but her father is, I believe, a Petro-chemical Engineer and has little or nothing to do with the musical side of Angelina's life. It's all self-driven, mainly helped along by her grandmother, her mother, and her uncle, who also acts as her manager. The musicians aren't a band at all; they're just the usual mix of hard-core, professional studio musicians who are generally contracted by the studio on a per-song basis, depending on what sound is required. They are quite good, mind, but that's what's required if you want to work at that professional level. I spent 40 years in the music business, mostly as a solo act (guitar and vocals) and I've had my fair share of time in a studio, so I know what I'm talking about.
