Hey guys, great job! Just a bit of critical feedback: the mic-ing on the cello sounds just a bit too distant, so the articulation almost gets lost in the reverb. Lovely playing though!
@IsrafelCello5 жыл бұрын
Hello Eric, and thanks for your comment. Are you familiar with the original track? It actually uses quite a bit more reverb than we have in the mix here. In this legato style music, when I played it, I did my best to soften any articulations as much as possible to create the longest musical line that I could. So, in other words, this is something that I thought about a great deal, and it doesn't bother me the way it is here. That said, these things are subjective, for sure, and I don't mind that you have a different opinion.
@NSSpaser5 жыл бұрын
@@IsrafelCello Well hey, it's your artistic decision, and you did a fantastic job with it! My opinion was mostly based on how the original track has notes that start a bit abruptly since it's computer-generated, after all. I love to replicate soundtracks on my cello, so please forgive the nitpicking and keep up the good work!
@IsrafelCello5 жыл бұрын
@@NSSpaser interesting! Do you know for a fact that the original is midi? I had always assumed it was a live player, in part because the intonation has flaws in places, some notes sharp compared with the piano. Not that I think it's not good, but it strikes me as the kind of thing that would happen to a studio player who didn't get more than a few minutes to get to know the music before recording.
@NSSpaser5 жыл бұрын
@@IsrafelCello Hmm...now I feel like an idiot. I've been assuming all along it was computer-generated, especially since I know of some midi tracks that actually sound decently realistic (down to intonation flaws...), but then I remembered how many times I've gotten the "real or computer" guess dead wrong, especially with the more recent fully orchestrated game soundtracks. How embarrassing! Well, the best thing about being wrong is that you learn your inadequacies much quicker...
