ISRO recently at BSX showed its latest iteration of the ISROO Space Suit with a white color similar to Russia's Sokol. The Indian Space Suit does have some differences though. #ISRO #spacesuit #gaganyaan

Their are two main perks of white suits, firstly in the space, maintaining the temperature inside the suit becomes very challenging since it receives a lot of radiation from the sun due to the lack of atmosphere, so it has to radiate a lot of this energy back. Secondly, since it radiates this heat, so we can see the suit easily from far.

Umm as I said these are IVA suit worn inside the capsule. So the sun point doesnt hold. Nasa has used orange suits famously known as pumpkin suits. The color visibility aspect will depend on background.

Great video. And for those who will start commenting negatively .... Let me tell you that during Apollo 13 mission ... US already made a space suit..... But the mission members and top officials had doubts regarding functionality. Finally they decided to order from Russia, The reason was that it was proven system and had zero failure rate till that date. Interestingly after receiving rocomos suit fro USSR, Apollo crew also said that it was extremely comfortable and functional. They also admitted that rocomos suit was aesthetically appealing too,!!!! They were beautiful for sure ... And even in those days they had suit for female too,,!!

NASA ditched that hand held ventilation system decades ago. As much as I understand, the suits are going to be attached to the life support system that'll be already installed into the vehicle. My question is, why then the suit is so bulky, if they aren't carrying any heavy components!

@Gareeb Scientist, great video bro... seeing that this video is 8 months old, you probably know this already but the off chance that you dont, your suspicion was correct.... ISRO have been developing their own space suit in parallel as well. They already have 5 different prototypes which are all going to be tested. However for the first couple of Gaganyaan launches (test flight and unmanned (with robo-pilot)) they will be using the space suit derived from the Russian space suit. And will look forward to using our own suit later.

They have been proven to work. So be it. Aerospace industry follows the mantra 'if it ain't broke dont fix' We'll see the capsule provides pressure to both capsule interior and Gaganyaan suit through those pipes. So if the suit system fails or has problem it would increase pressure inside suit

Isn't the suites which have thrusters for mobility in space called EMU(Extravehicular Mobility Unit) mostly those are nitrogen thrusters. Please correct me if I am wrong. EVA suites are suites for moving outside the vehicle of space station but do not have thrusters of any sort. What is common to all of them is they all have coolant and cooling pipings woven into another suit/layer that is worn below the respective suites. I was wondering if ISRO is going to use the IVA suit made by some company who have successfully made one but didn't knew ISRO getting the suites from Russia. Anyways these suites cost in terms of 6 figure $, which is why NASA had to go through lot of criticism for not providing astronaut fitting suites rathey they make standard and average body fitting suites.

So EVA is a wholistic term used to define anything extra vehicular. So the emu suit is technically a Eva suit. But I could be wrong. Yea i wont be surprised if isro approached Russia for a Eva suit too. Would be way cheaper than developing from scratch.

My personal opinion is that Gaganyaan is proving to be a huge distraction for ISRO. Rocket capacity enhancement should be the focus. Semi cryo engine project is so slow. 4-5 years delay maybe even more. Launches have also come down drastically. If this is not an issue then what is?

Please give credit where it's due. Spacex is way ahead and don't simply say attention seekers. They do things with style that gets more people to rally with them. That's how private companies can build such huge companies. ISRO also should get more people interested in India. Not everybody is a space enthusiast but people like associating with cool things. They have to generate revenue otherwise they can't run. ISRO get it's money from government. Yes they do commercial launches but government budget is main source for them. Nope. You see, Rakesh Sharma flew with the Soviets on the Soyuz T-11 spacecraft to their Salyut space station. He was there in that station, along with the other astronauts, for a week. By that time, NO MOON MISSIONS HAD BEEN GOING ON BY ANY EXISTING SPACE AGENCIES. So Rakesh Sharma never went to the moon. But yeah, he's the first Indian to be in space.
