Can a scanner locate where encrypted signals are ?

Yes, as long as you're using a digital trunk tracker scanner, but it depends on what kind of encrypted signals you want to monitor. Police? Fire? EMS? government? Most trunk tracker type scanners are expensive and difficult to program however. My two scanners are both analog but I can still hear most anything of interest even without encrypted modes.

@@Stoptherideiwanttogetoff I'm not that familiar with trunk tracking encrypted scanners and wasn't aware of any scanners having a built in GPS unit. I looked up the Uniden SDS100 I/Q digital scanner with all the features except GPS which you buy separately. Like most Uniden scanners you download frequencies according to a USA postal ZIP code. The UK probably doesn't have zip codes? or postal codes which may not work with UNIDEN programing. The SDS has a very hefty price, $649.00 dollars, that's even a lot of $ for me. I'm happy with the UDIDEN BC125AT and the SR30C for my monitoring needs. Sorry I'm not much help answering your question.
