It all started with a script from 'Moesha.'
You know Issa Rae from 'Insecure' on HBO, from 'Awkward Black Girl,' from 'The Lovebirds,' from 'Little.’ She produces 'A Black Lady Sketch Show.' She runs an Atlantic Record imprint, Raedio. She runs the production company, Issa Rae Presents, that makes 'Insecure.' She founded ColorCreative to represent underrepresented writers. She's got Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and a Peabody award. So how did a self-proclaimed “awkward girl” get to the place that she is today?
It all started back in 1996, with a script from 'Moesha' and a dissatisfaction for the Black stories that Hollywood wanted to tell. She decided to stop talking sh*t and start making sh*t and hasn't looked back since.
