I really did enjoy this 3rd Gen Tundra Platinum, but I didn’t love it. I wanted to, but all the little things just kept adding up. The powertrain was AMAZING, tons of power, decent MPG when stock, and a pleasure to drive (powertrain wise). I truly hope Toyota has heard all our criticisms us 3rd Gen owners have had with our trucks to make the upcoming 3.5 Gen Tundra refresh as iconic as the 2.5 Gen prior.

I feel like there are some things that I missed in this video but I’ve said them in others. This truck was very good when I bought it. Around 4K miles it started to have “window rattle” issues which then translated to insanely bad wind noise with various warrantied seals. Slight console rattle, door rattles and just cheaper feeling materials throughout. Lacking some features I just wish were standard as well for the price. Like acoustic windows, power tailgate and some other things. The positive though is that the truck drives GREAT! Loads of power and smooth transmission. The infotainment screen was snappy too and never gave me issues. The heated seats cook and feel so good on long drives. The 6.5’ bed with a crew max is the best combo too for those who really use their trucks. I appreciate Toyota offers that. I will have another 3rd Gen. I have faith.

I love my 24, coming form several 4runners mine feels solid and nothing beats that huge cab. I went with 305 k03's on the stock wheels with the Westcott leveling kit and it's perfect. I have 37's on my 392 Rubicon and I get 7 MPG! Mine is a Hybrid, and it makes a surprising difference in how much I like this truck having that battery that is tuned for hp and torque. I love the look of 37's but man, you will pay for them every time you fill up haha.

Yeah, I have a hybrid as a fresh vehicle and it felt a bit more solid than this truck. Granted it was a 2024 model so maybe Toyota has done some stuff behind the scenes to really improve it because this was an early build 2023.

As far as AC is concerned, it just might be the twin turbos getting a bit too hot so the cabin temp is taking some hit from that.

This is the problem with KZbin channels In this case Toyota has released a plethora of of new models , so plenty of potential content. This builds up the channel Growth phase It grows to the point where it becomes ravenous for content to sustain it But quality content becomes harder to get in sufficient quantity to sustain this appetite So one has to start feeding it trash Trash content degrades Degradation phase Viewership drops Quick more trash Desperation phase We are here The worst part Is the vehicles being designed around social media profile Hence silly things like detachable speakers in dash and pneumatic seats These are gimmicks to create social media buzz but who needs bumps stops 😅

@@TRDJon oh yes they are Cars are now like cosmetics Toyota used to make outdated “boring cars” But they were so disparaged on social media reviews that now they are compensating As long as a reviewer can say they have competitive design elements they think they are competing But alas it is a double edged sword and the quality issues are being magnified by social media As for content unless one is reviewing cars just buying them and driving them gets old so the search is always on for content Robmotive is an extreme example That doesn’t mean some of the content isn’t worthy It just gets overwhelmed with the superfluous

@@TRDJon big problem with the new Toyota trucks is they treated the globa platform as a means to quickly slap together a concept and put it on the market whereas prior each truck needed considerable effort as a stand alone design This has lead to these half baked releases all of which will need quite a bit of redesign and is enormously damaging to the reputation of Toyota

I still want a bump in MPG. They could’ve simply revamped and optimized the 5.7 and thrown the 10 speed behind it. With the right programming and ratios, there’s no reason Toyota wouldn’t be able to get another 2-4mpg additional with that setup, while retaining reliability and spending less on development. Too bad our government screws everything up in the name of “climate crisis” scare tactics.

I love my 5th gen 4Runner, but to me the most interesting new vehicle (truck) out right now is the Ranger Raptor. It may not have any less issues than these Toyotas are having, but at least it's a relatively good value with some features not available on any of its competitors.

Something is bent or the panel gaps are not to spec. I had the same problem on my 1996 Chevy when I bought it brand new. I had to modify the seal to fit the gap. It's just poor quality manufacturing.
