AJ is not one of the best guitarists to ever live, but you have to admit that his ability to create riffs that are extremely unpredictable and groovy cannot be duplicated. nobody can write riffs like this man, duplicating his sound is impossible. I've tried.
@TheMilkYourDadWentToBuy2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I love AJ and it’s not to say he isn’t a talented writer, but a lot of “not being able to duplicate his sound” specifically comes from the editing, his pedals, the tunings he uses, etc. He’s super talented but part of what makes his stuff so addictive is just that he found a REALLY good tone and sticks to it for the most part with slight variations.

Imagine eating the same food for the rest of your life, you'd eventually get sick of it right? Well Issues have been in the metalcore scene for a while now, and I'm pretty sure they get bored of writing the same thing each album. Just like all of us, they evolve, find different influences, and grow up. Although I probably only like 4 songs out of this album, I'm glad they're still going at it.

Tokii I’m pretty sure just a guess but was that Tyler needed/wanted a way to express more of his solo project he had so many ideas and you can hear a lot of that influence here so he probably wanted to infuse it with issues but with Michael being such a big part of vocals as well that wouldn’t have worked out so well so they ditched him and went a little more poppier and now Tyler can do whatever he wants
@camdenwyeth3165 жыл бұрын
@@ZepyhrLight It seems like this is the sound they were going for on headspace but didn't fully hit, here they did. Headspace was nice but seemed a bit cluttered imo, this album seems like they've made up their minds and found their new sound. If you don't like it that's all good, but when others say they don't like it solely because of the lack of harsh vocals that's pretty dumb. I'd encourage a few more listens through it though tbh.

I was originally listening on my Xbox and the XB1 YT interface doesn't have comments, so I opened up my laptop just to check the comments here if anyone else got serious Periphery vibes off that intro riff. It comes back around at 2:22 too. And that breakdown is so weird, not sure I've heard another metalcore breakdown like it. Like you said, super progressive. I liked Black Diamonds and the self-titled album a lot, but for different reasons. I'd almost say some of this album gets too progressive for a casual listener. They took the genre bending elements of their previous work, turned it up to eleven, and warped it all with weird structures in the best way.

I was thinking Periphery with the intro and the part at 2:22, but Tesseract and Animals as Leaders are also completely fair game comparisons. Issues has always had great guitar work, but this album is in a different league. I'm not saying it's better as a matter of preference, but it's by far their most progressive record. Even more genre bending than usual, and weird song structures all over the place. Completely unpredictable. The second verse of this song has a DnB section for fuck's sake, never ever saw that coming, especially not after the first minute and a half.

@@AMcCann1178 listen to Vola's albums Inmazes then Applause From A Distant Crowd, theyre from Denmark and play an AMAZING mix of pop and ridiculously low toned, non generic meshuggah grooves that generally stay around that level of heavy. the singers voice is lower pitched and might take a minute to get used to considering this genre is known for mid to high pitched singing.
