At the beginning it´s just a delay. That´s a totally normal effect for Vocals. He didn´t need this sort of cheating. He is one of the best clean singer in this Genre

Wait you actually think his using backing tracks live? It's completely obvious his not.. When he moves his mic further away from his mouth when he goes for higher notes the volume reduces, if his vocals tracks from the album were playing through the mix the vocals would stay at a consist volume. Before making accusations that someone lip syncs make sure you know what you're talking about
