see the thing about this song that you guys should understand is it means whatever you are feeling or going through. Yes they have their intentions on what they meant for the song to be, but you can make it out to be what you feel. For me, this story could be an alternative to me and my girlfriend. She left for the Air Force, and fthe way we left things hurt a lot. When I watched her leave it could have been the end of us, and "tears on the runway" could be her crying as she flew away to camp. leaving her toubles behind to start a new life without me. To me this song is what could have happened.

issues was here I'm more than sure that Nylo and Matt broke up around the new yr and then she met Tyler through Matt I believe,bc it's no secret Matt and Tyler did several singles together. Matt and Nylo were publicly together and he lowkey made a song @ her "N.Y.L.A" which is very similar to Nylo's name. "You're in NY, I'm in LA, I drive to work you take the train, until that day I'm one plane ride away, from NY to LA" I'm pretty sure Nylo's and matts breakup fucked her up and that's why it was hard for her to trust anyone anymore.
