If you don't want to blow thru propane in cold weather up north, the most beneficial thing you can do to prevent that is skirt your RV. That prevents the wind from getting underneath and freezing up anything. You can also run an electric heater underneath too for warmth. You don't put it on high. That's not the goal. You put it on the lowest setting. The goal is to only keep it above freezing only. Another thing you can do to prevent your holding waste tanks from freezing is use deicer in it. It don't take much. Otherwise, Todd's advice is spot on as always. The only problem is you can't follow it and go south if you are assigned up there for a job during that time. LOL!!! If you want some more cold weather tips, just ask or search some videos. I don't want to overstep here.

Todd, your videos are amazing. Spot on advice. I've learned a lot from you. I have 2 things for you. #1 Waterless pea traps. Can you please explain and demonstrate what they are? Also what you can not do to them? We recently had to replace ours. Chad on Changing Lanes had mentioned them but I really didn't understand what they were until I physically saw them. People with long hair may not understand you can not dig out that long hair and soap scum from the drain with those orange or black things that have the multiple sharp edges on it. Those things tear up the waterless pea traps. I had never heard of a "waterless" pea trap before I got into RVing. #2 In some places of our RV, we do have the white PEX tubing, However, in other places, like for example the water tube going to the back of the toilet, under both sinks and underneath in some places, there is a "blue" braided very flexible tubing. We also have some that is red. It has a special crimping clamp on it that you have to use a special tool on. Are you familiar with this tube? If so, is this just a regular vinyl tubing that Lowe's sells? Can this tubing from the toilet be replaced with PEX tubing to make it easier to put a cut off valve on it? I've been told that the 2 piece white things that would replace the crimp clamps that go on the PEX tubing can't go on the blue tubing I have. Why on earth does this have to be an act of congress just to put a cut off valve on the back of the toilet? It should come with a cut off valve to begin with. Please help me figure out how to put a cut off valve on the toilet.

Good video. Odd question. Were you two actually standing next to each other? Looks like you blended the two of you from separate sources. (Overlapping arms) If so. Great job.

I don’t know electrical code for RVs, but for residential wiring you can only have 1 cable in a shallow box with an outlet, so you can’t daisy chain one outlet to the next and so on, if you use shallow boxes and want to comply with code. But I will emphasize, that’s residential wiring, RVs might be different. (Also, isn’t “hot water heater” redundant? Isn’t it just a “water heater”?)

@@jpe1 I see my RV outlets have 2 romex cables going into them, they are daisy chain just like a house. If there was only one box and one cable then that would be considered a dedicated circuit. You wan't find dedicated circuits in an RV for basic 110v outlets. The appliances will have their own dedicated outlet like A/C, WH, Microwave etc.

Does the water heater turn off then turn on? Does it turn on when the water is cold?

They do make extension spacers for Outlets. Usually for GFI but there are other extension spacers also that will work in shallow situations.
