Gj on that change and thanks for the video and it doesn't look like it will be a big problem to change the slip ring on my mill which is similar to yours when the time comes, nothing lasts forever. When mine goes up, I don't want to leave cables outside the pipe/mast, but leave everything inside and I also want as few joints as possible, but there are many ways to do things and you choose your own, many greetings from him The Dane who still lives in Bulgaria, but at one point or another travels home to Denmark again, has been here for 11 years, enough is enough lol.

Inside the pipe is better, I left this cable outside because it's very heavy. The wire I ran originally was rigid and would actually support it's weight to a great degree, this wire flexes and puts that weight on the joint up top and I had no way to really support it inside. Conduit would have been best

I had one of these fail but after using my backup i-2000 It worked so much better I now believe the slip ring was faulty from the beginning. It costs so much to have it sent from ista I thought I would find one in the states. Do you have a link for the replacement?

Great instructional video. Do you reckon than the slip ring is underrated ?. Otherwise amazingly good turbine.

I don't really think so, under normal operation there's really not a tremendous load goind through the slip rings. It's not until I try to throw the brakes on in high wind that they get super hot. I think there's a great chance of their failing if you have an inadvertent short or something, but normal use they're simple, in expensive, and easy to get. A large brushed design would be more reliable, but also larger and more complicated and more expensive. I think these have downsides but they're made up for with their convenience and cost.

My i2000 started vibrating when running at a decent speed but it looked like its output does not match up with the speed. Testing voltages between the different phases show a significant imbalance (e.g. 50 vs 35 vs 20 volts between phases) Now I assume the vibration is possibly a bad bearing in the motor, but would that cause the imbalance or is that a separate issue? What else could cause it?

Do you have a link to the amazon slip ring? how does the Heli 2 differ? is it the same slip ring?

I have an istabreeze i2000 and was just recently installed. It is not connected to anything and left untwisted. There seems to be a problem with the props not rotating at all. As if it has a grounding issue causing a short circuit/brake. What could be the cause to this? This is a brand new never used allegedly. Is that a rattle snake in the background?

Any time you have a situation where it seems like the turbine is braking you should do a wire check. Check continuity between all your cables and make sure there's nothing contacting anywhere. Start with the leads on the ground and work your way toward the generator until you find the short.
@GavinFreedomLover Жыл бұрын
can you turn it by hand? does it rotate freely, have you tried disconnecting it from the controller and see if it spins?
@stevenlouis1024 Жыл бұрын
@@GavinFreedomLover its not connected to a controller at all. nor is the wires twisted. The wires are free and clear. As for rotating the blades there is severe resistance as it instantly stops. Doesn’t even get an 1/8th of a turn? Istabreeze keeps on blaming it on everything else other than the obvious.
@stevenlouis1024 Жыл бұрын
@@ToysforWatts I even removed the wires including the manufacturers and still it does the same.
@GavinFreedomLover Жыл бұрын
@@stevenlouis1024 not much you can do other than test the resistance with a multimeter as toys4watts says , the only things I can think of are a part seized bearing which is unlikely wholesome kind of internal wiring for which realistically can't be repaired.

Dont worry, soldering is worse. Everything automotive etc is crimped these days. Vibration can cause solder to crack. I know you in the US dont like WAGO 221 for some reason, but those in a ip65 box would be best imo, since the springs retain pressure. Industrail standard here :-) (And can be easily undone by hand up in a pole..no cutting, solid to stranded aswell)

Just quickly googled slip ring and sore a longer body with twice as many wires, not sure the diameter or the amp rating, doubling up the wires would give it twice the durability if suited.

i1500 much better design except for tail attach
@ToysforWatts Жыл бұрын
I like the standard i1500 and i2000 more than the tilting models, though it's just because it's a simpler design. I like simpler designs.
