Built in the 5th century AD, the Walls of Istanbul are regarded to be one of the most sophisticated fortification systems of ancient times. They bear the traces of both Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, and constitute a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We are rolling up our sleeves to save these long neglected, 1600-year old land walls of Istanbul. For the first time since 1994, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is back at the site, conducting restoration work with diligence and care. Watch our video to find out more.
