So true! I sometimes ask my ISTP friends what if questions and their responses are always "I don't know" or "figure it out yourself". They prefer to do something than guess! 👍

I actually think it boils down to what both types are interested in. My family are intp/istp, and the differences are clear. Istp will certainly talk but will run out of steam much quicker, whereas intp will continue the conversations for much longer. The istp is much much more likely wanting to do something physical, like cooking or wanting to exercise in some way. The intp will want to ignore stuff that needs to be done. During family gatherings, I will be more than happy to stay indoors, my istp family will have already planned on either going out or meeting a friend. My istp family will have decided on what delicious things to cook, and I'll personally be happy to make a sandwich if I have to feed myself 😂 But both are wonderful with their thinking, I just love it 💖

The only reason istps ever care about “what ifs” is if it’s already happened once and it could happen again or if they are certain it’s a likely possibility

That was a great explanation

I'm an INTP and I like applying stuff too, but the "excitement" for me is in the theoretical because when I come up with a theory, I want to see if it's true or not or if it's useful or not. Or I want to make the theoretical intp something useful. Trial and error and statistical analysis are big deals. Another difference is that an INTP would take their comfort more seriously.

is asking "what if" an indication that someone is using Ne? would Ni ponder about "what if" questions too?
@RonFlux Жыл бұрын
High Ni also uses "what if", but they are more focused on one path or goal. "what if" is an indication of intuition
@00Klingon Жыл бұрын
High Ne often says “Could” a lot. “It could be used for this” or “we could do that” high Ni says “I want” a lot in contrast. One is typically more direct and the other is more indirect.

Ni child is basically shallowly and impulsively looking at the future moments like "what if I do x" without really thinking of the full path to get to x or the multiple results. Or "I want to be at y in 2 years time. What do I need to do right now and in the immediate future to get there?"

ISTPs are good at manifesting their thoughts into the physical world, with practical applications. INTP struggle with this more, preferring to stay more theoretical and working with the abstract world of ideas.

INTP: The question is whether he should put time and energy into a project and whether it could have negative consequences. ISTP: We'll see, looks good, I'll get started. INTP: Wait I haven't thought it all through yet! ISTP: INTP go ahead, I'm already half done. - That's roughly how I imagine the dialogue ;D
@00Klingon Жыл бұрын
@@7XSubaru you’ve got it exactly. ISTP learn through the school of hard knocks, but will often school others with experience once older. “Been there, done that, this is how it went”.

As an ISTP I'd get a mullet/wolfcut but my hair defies gravity, so I settled on a ponytail.

i can definitely tell this is true by one of my friends who is an INTP and has a younger brother than is an INTP. thank you for the practical tips at telling them apart!

I would barely see the simmularities between the types.. At least in how they come across. But I guess the Ti on top is what people find simular, might both like to work on some technical project or something. I see istp just as the introverted version of and estp very in the moment, liking to moreso do things with friends than have conversations or an less serious more go with the flow type of istj. I just see Intp's as the nerds sitting behind their computer in their fandom room, exploring their hobbies and intrests and with friends liking to show off their knowledge of pretty randomn topics. Basically the Ne is very appearent to me as a Ni user.

Is he Dutch? That is kind of funny. Because, Dutch people are notoriously really honest and upfront.
