If you have a new factory O ring you shouldn't need to add RTV but I guess in Africa that isn't always possible so that is a good bush mechanic fix.

What causes the camshaft to be damaged after an oil pump change

How do you mean damaged,can you give a little more info on "damage"

On the gear that drives the oil pump

Where was the camshaft damaged the cam itself or the gear portion where oil pump gear connects to the camshaft gear.

The gear portion were the oil pump connects to the camshaft

@kudziechox7391 ok check the oil pump gear if it is the same degrees as old pump and the rotation by hand of the oil pump it must move freely.
