Awesome videos!! Have learnt so much from these - easily the best on youtube. I have a squeal from the front when braking - any idea what it could be? Its driving me insane. Mechanic said everything looked normal...
@LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Richard 😀 The brakes tend to get a lip on the rotors over time and the brake pads can contact the rusty edge of the disc when braking. This creates a squeal when braking. You have a few different options. If the brake pads look fine you can chamfer the edge of the pads so they don't contact the edge of the disc. You can also get the discs machined so they are completely flat again and you can replace the brakes at the same time. Either should fix the squeal. I ended up chamfering my brake pads and this has fixed the squealing.

Hey Dustin! Usually it will be the brake pads hitting the edge of the disc we're it is starting to wear. @LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
Thats good! The brakes on the isuzus are very squeaky and tend to squeal a lot. Usually it's the front brake pads contacting the dirty worn edge of the brake disc. What you can do is give the brake pads a small chamfer to stop the squealing noises. Just make sure that there is still enough brake pad left before chamfering.

Hi Craig, the factory sealant is loctite 515. You can also use any automotive silicone gasket maker sealant. I just used ultra black silicone sealant. @LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the vehicle doesn't get driven too much or it sits around a bit with that sort of kms on a 2018 model. When your driving the vehicle just try and figure out Wether the noise is coming from the front or rear brakes. You can try when it's making the noise to pull the handbrake on a bit and see if it stops the noise. If it does, it may just need the handbrake adjusted and rear brakes cleaned out. Otherwise it could just be a bit of corrosion on the brake discs and pads. You can try a few different things. Firstly take the vehicle for a good drive and find a very safe spot that you can do some nice long heavy brakes. Say from 100kmhr to 60kmhr. Try and bed those pads in and clean up the disc a bit. If this doesn't improve the noise what you can try and do is remove all the wheels and inspect the rear drum brakes and discs/ pads for any signs of rocks, wear and check the anti vibration shims on the front pads are sitting in the correct spots. Remove the front brakes and put a very small chamfer on the pads and clean and adjust the rear brakes when the drums are back on. See if that fixes the issue.
@stone48582 жыл бұрын
@@LowRangeNick The previous owner I bought it from had it for the first 4 year and he only drove it for it's first 4,300km. I own it for the past 4 months, in witch I drove it over 2,000km. I took it to a professional mechanic and he opened the rear drums and clean what little brake dust there was. Then cleand the front discs and made a small chamfer to the edge of the pads. He also changed the brake fluid so that it's fresh. I tried lifting the hand brake while driving and it want stop, it only stops when I press the brake foot pedal. It does not need to be pressed hard, I barely touch the foot pedal and the noise stops.
