FINALLY an answer -- this sound has driven me insane for a couple of years and I thought it was the brakes, I have tried everything brake related to get rid of this noise on the drivers side. What sealant do you use when closing up the hub cover? Thanks for the information and very very clear video on how to perform the fix, top video footage and top editing! … subscribed …. EDIT: I just read the description and found the info on the sealant, so many people have zero help in the description but you complete the job with extra data in the description, thanks again.

Thanks Nick. I’ve had this noise before and have always used method one. Have a new noise a few weeks after fitting Bremtech slotted rotors and pads. It comes and goes but it’s like a fluttering noise and if you brake hard it screeches like metal on metal. I actually think one of the anti rattle clips is touching the rotor ever so slightly occasionally.

Thanks Nick have this sort of issue with my 2016 Dmax the hollow sounding rumble or medium pitched sound appeared recently, at 60 to 80 k's an hour as i back off on the throttle not under load and not really high pitched so I thought it might be some sort of bearing problem, at first I thought wheels or axle bearings but my local mech thinks it's a diff bearing, so I'm gonna mention to him to check this out first, as I'm over 70 and can't this type of maintenence anymore - bugga hope that's what it turns out nto be3 as diff bearing sounds expensive - only time will tell.

Awesome videos!! Have learnt so much from these - easily the best on youtube. I have a squeal from the front when braking - any idea what it could be? Its driving me insane. Mechanic said everything looked normal...
@LowRangeNick
@LowRangeNick 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Richard 😀 The brakes tend to get a lip on the rotors over time and the brake pads can contact the rusty edge of the disc when braking. This creates a squeal when braking. You have a few different options. If the brake pads look fine you can chamfer the edge of the pads so they don't contact the edge of the disc. You can also get the discs machined so they are completely flat again and you can replace the brakes at the same time. Either should fix the squeal. I ended up chamfering my brake pads and this has fixed the squealing.

Hey Dustin! Usually it will be the brake pads hitting the edge of the disc we're it is starting to wear. @LowRangeNick
@LowRangeNick 2 жыл бұрын
Thats good! The brakes on the isuzus are very squeaky and tend to squeal a lot. Usually it's the front brake pads contacting the dirty worn edge of the brake disc. What you can do is give the brake pads a small chamfer to stop the squealing noises. Just make sure that there is still enough brake pad left before chamfering.

@LowRangeNick
@LowRangeNick 2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the vehicle doesn't get driven too much or it sits around a bit with that sort of kms on a 2018 model. When your driving the vehicle just try and figure out Wether the noise is coming from the front or rear brakes. You can try when it's making the noise to pull the handbrake on a bit and see if it stops the noise. If it does, it may just need the handbrake adjusted and rear brakes cleaned out. Otherwise it could just be a bit of corrosion on the brake discs and pads. You can try a few different things. Firstly take the vehicle for a good drive and find a very safe spot that you can do some nice long heavy brakes. Say from 100kmhr to 60kmhr. Try and bed those pads in and clean up the disc a bit. If this doesn't improve the noise what you can try and do is remove all the wheels and inspect the rear drum brakes and discs/ pads for any signs of rocks, wear and check the anti vibration shims on the front pads are sitting in the correct spots. Remove the front brakes and put a very small chamfer on the pads and clean and adjust the rear brakes when the drums are back on. See if that fixes the issue.

@@LowRangeNick The previous owner I bought it from had it for the first 4 year and he only drove it for it's first 4,300km. I own it for the past 4 months, in witch I drove it over 2,000km. I took it to a professional mechanic and he opened the rear drums and clean what little brake dust there was. Then cleand the front discs and made a small chamfer to the edge of the pads. He also changed the brake fluid so that it's fresh. I tried lifting the hand brake while driving and it want stop, it only stops when I press the brake foot pedal. It does not need to be pressed hard, I barely touch the foot pedal and the noise stops.

@@LowRangeNick fair enough. I use truck wash under the car, prolly soaks into the gap at the hub and strips the lube from the seal. Any comments on the thud from the rear when one slows down, or even sets off from traffic lights. Foot off brake to take off there is a thud from the rear. I assume its the diff perhaps back lash. Seems to be a common noise on the interwebs.

Hahah just dpf issues and a much higher price tag 😂 But no I agree, I should have bought a prado instead. Just too bad that when I was looking in 2018 the Toyota's were having bad dpf issues so I decided against it 😂

@@LowRangeNick What modern car doesn’t have DPF issues… seems somewhat common amongst all brands. Had engine light and DPF light come on in my 2019 MUX. Resolved itself again and just had to get code deleted. My mate had to get DPF replaced in his Amarok… 6k job. 😬
