I would love to see them keep the cap, but bump it to around $25M and drop it back to 1 DP. It sounds like a huge jump from $5M, BUT teams this year were spending on average $15.2M once you factor in all the weird loopholes and gimmicks. I think $25M and simplified cap rules would give us good, quality squads while also keeping the league internally competitive. I like salary caps in sports. I think without it or with a super soft cap like that you end up like baseball where half a dozen teams really try and the bottom half of the league’s teams don’t even pretend to care about being competitive.

That would be nice along with a softer cap that does away with tam and gam for player retention. Like Bird rights in the NBA, good teams can have more of a chance to keep their top talent because the MLS team is able to be over the cap. Then have a luxury tax when retaining and acquiring players reach a certain threshold. I personally think the NBA's way of roster building is great for creating homegrown teams before the latest CBA.

Remove the salary buckets and do a soft cap with a luxury tax. Unleash the clubs!

A luxury tax is the last thing it should do. Unless they remove all salary restrictions and let the luxury teams do what they want. There is already too much disincentive to spend and worrying about the slacker owners. Or maybe they should charge a tax on the low spenders. That would be better for the league.

@@fredymendez855 Sorry, I didn't realize you were a child who doesn't understand how the tournament format works. The teams that qualified are in the tournament, if you don't like that, take it up with FIFA, you dingus.
