Yeah this is what i'm trying to say to my friends, they dont like Inaki because he is not idiot like Luffy, and i was always said. All the OPLA cast is not gonna potrait 1:1 just like in the anime, especially Luffy. As long as Inaki give the vibe and Luffy energy its already good performance to me. But to be honest tho this is only trailer, probably we are going to see the idiotic Luffy and ussop when the series air !!!

Inaki is Luffy! He is a real life Luffy, not an anime Luffy, which is great. Also, all the main cast were approved by Oda, and he sings praise to Inaki's performance. I've been following their news after the cast was announced. They put so much effort into this live action, so all the actors deserve the praise. The production team as well. This is a live action made by a super fan (Matt Owen), not only for OP fans but to attract non-anime fans too. So for me, who's been watching & reading OP for almost 15 years, I appreciate the love & effort that they showed here, and yes, I like this trailer a lot

If this adaptation draws more people to the manga or anime then I’d call it a success. Honestly that all it needs to do, my fiancé for instance is hesitant to watch the anime due to its length but she is interested in watching this just to see the over all story grabs her, so I’m hoping it’s good enough for her to want to try the anime out.

This isnt supposed to be a 1:1 adaption, its supposed to be something which EVERYONE can watch so they change how things go such as arlong coming to baratie instead of nami just running off. Buggy, Mihawk and Coby are definitely the best castings/adaptations... For shanks he looks a lil goofy but in bts images he looks really good. For arlong, alot to say about this... It is insanely hard to pull off a 7ft fishman in live action. They could of pulled a thanos and cgi'd him but i feel like practical works best. Luffy is more toned down and "serious" compared to anime luffy to make it so everyone can enjoy it and not be put off by the "cartoon" aspect of the show.

Oh damn, I was actually having a "What if you guys reacted to this?" moment for a while now. Wasn't expecting you actually did it! Definitely marking this on my Calendar, I'm not missing out on the Live action for real! There are many of us who have been fans since way in the beginning. For some others, One Piece holds a special place in their heart. I say this the same for me, since I started watching the series more than a decade ago. So most of us are cheering for this!

As a documented hater of the first trailer, this one made me... hopeful? The cast still looks great, the comedy works better, the CGI is miles improved and the general vibe fits really well. I didn't even mind the apparent changes to the story, such as the fishmen showing up on Baratie, 'cause it tells me they're working hard on making an adaptation without leaving out important scenes. My main complaint, which seems to be a pretty popular one, is Arlong. His makeup grew on me (and I'm so glad they went practical), but, yeah, he doesn't look intimidating enough. I thought I could get used to it, but then I saw some fan edits online showing how much you can bulk him up or just add a meter of size difference, and it mattered sooooo much. I'm still cautiously optimistic, tho, the crew seems to be giving it all and that merits so much respect.

Fan edits are just image manipulation but don't deal with a ton of film, movement, action etc. It's a lot harder to deal with actual movement than a single still frame edit. All the people doing fan edits and going "why didn't they do this?" - yeah, now do all the other still frames.

Heck, Lord of the Rings was doing forced perspective decades ago, and they sure didn't have the same level of special effects! It's also the only thing that felt weird, to me, about the whole trailer; the rest was fine.

People also gotta realize this is a completely different media from the anime and manga. I love that this isn't 1 to 1 with the show or manga. I enjoy that the actors are being themselves instead of coping the characters they play, we're seeing more of the actor's own personalities mixed in with the role they play more than what we see out of the actual cast of straw hats. Don't know why others are going into this thinking it's supposed to be EXACTLY like the others media's when this is it's own thing. If people don't like change then i suggest not watching it.

IMO the trailer looks "good" BUT...I don't think they're going to pull off the same Luffy in this show like the one in the manga/anime. It looks like they made this Luffy more "realistic". He is still fairly idealistic and stalwart, but he's also sarcastic and "smarter" than manga/anime Luffy. This show might work on its own and even be good, however it most likely won't have the same charm.

I mean could they really have made luffy as dumb as the manga/anime? I feel like that’s one of the parts that they would have to translate differently to live action for it to work. Similarly to Sanji’s extreme “simp”ness and Usopp’s exaggerated comical personality in general. It was a given they’d have to change their characters a bit cause of the medium. All that matters is that the essence of the character is still there.

Of course they're not gonna look like cartoons, but they still should hit the main vibe of the character. LA Luffy looks optimistic, Zoro looks stoic, Sanji looks smooth, Buggy looks campy and sort of spooky; these are all great. But Arlong? He's the big bad of the East Blue, he should look more intimidating. Making him a meter or two taller than Luffy could help that so much and it's not even that expensive (Lord of The Rings was doing that 20 years ago), if the problem was bulking him up a bit. Look at him holding the Kiribachi and tell me he doesn't look ridiculous.

i spoke with one of my friends and we came to the conclusion that this reminded us a lot of Power Rangers, cause it knows what it’s adapting is silly but it’s being sincere about it. cause like, at surface level it is kinda silly and cringey, but One Piece is also kinda silly and cringey. like there’s no point in this trailer where I thought, “yeah this is made by people who don’t care about this show”, cause all the sets are built, all the actors are genuine. like i don’t mind that it’s cringey cause it’s doing it with love.

I'm pretty much with you on this in that I'm cautiously optimistic on it but also have some doubts. I personally love basically the whole cast and their whole passion for this (Usopp is lowkey my favorite amongst the crew from the tiny bits we've seen of him because the scene where he is sitting in the Baratie in pretty much a captain's outfit like he owns the place just seems to nail his character perfectly and I can already see the switchup in attitude the moment enemies start to show up.) And I think visually they nailed a lot of the cast and scenery. But what I'm a bit iffy on and what also feels a bit forced for me is mostly the writing of the dialogue especially in humerous moments and especially with Luffy. I still hope this is mostly an issue of picking moments for a trailer that are kind of "snappy" and it works better in context but so far I'm not yet feeling that aspect as much. Usopp's whole maneurism in those few scenes this trailer is e.g. already a lot funnier to me than some of the scenes especially in the previous teaser that were trying to be funny.

I'm also about a 6/10 for hype. I'm not hating on it, but it might not be for me. What makes me cautiously optimistic about it is Netflix couldn't give a release date until after Oda had watched all eight episodes and gave his approval. Add to that, they had to do multiple re-shoots because Oda wasn't satisfied with what Netflix was trying to get away with.

Foxy bounty was also on the board at the end. All in all, it looks fantastic. You definitely aren't going to get the exaggerated character sizes that Oda is famous for, but the makeup looks great, the CGI looks good, the sets are fantastic, and I think the overall feel hits the mark. I'm hyped if nothing else. I think they can pull this off. All that remains to be seen is if everything flows together, and if the emotional scenes carry the same weight. I still tear up at the anime, despite having seen the scenes dozens of times. I hear Oda thought the hat scene with Nami was well done.

I'm actually super excited about it, but there are things that kind of bothered me, especially because I feel like they could've been easily avoided! 1.Mihawk's sword on the close up looks awfully cheap. 2.The crowd at Roger's execution were poorly chosen extras. 3.Some of Sanji's kicks looked odd, like when he saved Zoro. 4.Arlong's sword (once again) looked really cheap....That being said; it goes to show how these flaws can be easily forgiven due to the passion and love that has been invested into a show by the cast and production team.

ngl, the first teaser put me off (the last gum-gum bit by Luffy). But this trailer raised my hopes. Personally, I'm not feeling the casting for Shanks based on appearance. And I think I'm with Prez on how Luffy's actor feels like he's trying hard sometimes. This would be my first live action that I'd actually watch; I went on KZbin to see some clips of the bleach live action and I cringed so hard. Made me realise how decent the one piece live action actually is based on this trailer. Difficult project to pull off, hope it doesn't flop.

In case the voices aren't clicking for you, do know that the Japanese VA's will do the Japanese dub for the live action, so you could watch it in japanese dub (don't know if they would sub the dub though).

Great takes. I agree wholeheartedly, Luffy is nigh impossible to replicate with live action. He's such a lovable character. He can be dumb as a rock and the crew shits on him deservedly, but then certain moments he is THE Captain and the crew follows him completely. This live action Luffy just can't hit any of the marks. Just hearing his voice reminds me how iconic Luffy's voice actually is, and how much it resonates in his character. The rest of the crew is actually pretty good. Zoro, Ussop and Sanji, the ones I thought would be the most problematic, actually look and sound pretty on point. Even the way they interact. Then fucking Fake Luffy shows up and says something and it's like this guy just slapped you in the face and is going *wink* *nudge* "I'm Luffy by the way".

I keep seeing the whole "It has Oda's approval" thing and it really doesn't sell it for me. English isn't his first language so his impression of how english actors are portraying the characters is very biased. It's like us trying to tell japanese actors, "Oh that's good". Also he has no film experience, he's not directing. He's a mangaka, a brilliant one, but that doesn't translate into "I can make film". They do a thing, ask if he approves and that's it. He's just happy to see his work come to life but just because the writer knows about doesn't mean it's going to be good. Also all this stuff about the director is a huge fan and the cast are really trying hard...people can love something and put money work into it and it can still flop. The best actors can be given a trash script and it's not their fault. If the amount of effort we put into things automatically made them good then we'd have much much less crappy media. 3 more days...this ain't it, also they're delaying the anime for this and iykyk, dont spoil but I was so excited for these next couple of episodes

The anime's delay is a good thing. The more they delay it, the more the manga can get ahead of the anime, and they can stop stretching the episodes' pacing so thin in an effort to not catch up to the manga.

Are you the manga author who knows exactly what the materials and characters should be like? Are you a professional film maker and actor who has a bunch of years of experiences? It sounded like you can make film but everyone involved with the project can't lol... Using the same logic you did, even if it doesn't sell it for you doesn't translate into "you having some good/right opinion" you have so many assumptions and I think you didn't even read the latest letter from Oda talking about the live action. I don't think you understand how much Oda care about this project, they worked on this for 7 years. he's just happy to see his work come to life? Lol, he actually told them to reshoot some scenes after they done because he was not satisfied, and they wouldn't launch the show until Oda is ok. You say that doesn't mean it's good, well may be to you but to most we have different opinions. The efforts, love and heart being put into the show alone deserves our respect, Just wait until the full show is out to make the final evaluation, but I bet you will just go into the show with your biased mindset, unrealistic expectations and wrong assumptions... But that's fine, i am not here to change your mind and could care less you watching it or not, I just wanted to comment because you sounded so arrogant and full of yourselves.... 🙄😮‍💨

From what I've seen, I feel like the fans will be mostly on board, but I don't see this piquing the interest of the general audience. Thing is, One Piece is goofy even by anime standard. A lot of people have a hard time getting into it because of the goofiness. So in a live action format, it's gonna be even more pronounced. Even if they tone it down, it's still One Piece, a world with colorful characters, in which even a regular human can smash boulders, do crazy jumps, or cut entire battleships in half. It's bound to look weird. That aside, I think the cast is great, the sets are great, and even the CGI I think is pretty damn good. Only complaint would be Arlong; I don't mind the make-up, but they could have made him bigger.

People are like Luffy can't be like in the manga because is a live action, but at the same time defend Roger, Arlong and Shanks weak cast saying that's because they look that in the manga, common Shanks and Roger are the chads of the chads, what they gonna do after marineford, giving steroids to the Shanks actor? Arlong actor had to be tall, he can't be the same size that Luffy. I'm not hater I love the trailer. note, and I don't said nothing about Roger because is a spoiler for this guys.
