#1 we don't see her get hit by lightning. We just see her get *SMACKED* by a wave and see a lightning shot. #2 Moana is not the first mortal to encounter deities. In the second movie we learn that Moana'a ancestors also encountered them (not the same ones as the first movie but still) and that's how they died. We also see in the second movie that she was able to talk to the people on her island (and at the end of the first movie) like she was actually alive. Not to mention she brought some others along for her next journey and they encounter deities as well. #3 she didn't access the realm of monsters she just jumped in the opening. Maui then said "No mortal is gonna *jump* into the realm of.." #3 How does her completing her mission mean she died? #4 When did they show Te fiti restoring Moana's life? The petals went straight to her boat to fix it (and make it better) #5 Just because you say it multiple times doesn't make it true

The movie is also deeply rooted in Pacific Islander traditions and history, which is why she can communicate with her grandma and why she encounters so many mythical figures.
