The opening scene with the gay man being attacked and thrown over the bridge is based on a real event that happened in Bangor, ME just before King wrote the book. I thought the new Pennywise nailed the whole aspect of IT being an animal pretending to be a clown. Specifically in the Georgie scene when he suddenly starts drooling, like the mask briefly falls off because he’s so hungry. Perfect
@miriamweller812 Жыл бұрын
Of course what's the point of the whole Clown thing when it's so freaking creepy? Pointless. But better not start with how any of that would make sense. Why isn't it eating those kids as all the others and instead scares them over and over again to the point, that they realize, that this is its main power? Of course in the book there is some talk about some magical turtle god or whatever giving protection, but why then go for these kids and not just all the others it obviously can easily eat? The TV series IT just felt quite a lot smarter. This one is scarier, sure, but also incredible dumb.
@edwardpolenzani1039 Жыл бұрын
@@miriamweller812 Don't they explain in more detail in the book that IT enjoys scarring his victims because it makes them taste better? Like playing with his food/seasoning the meat or something like that? It was briefly touched on in this movie but I believe the book goes into more detail. As to why doesn't IT just eat the main kids as quickly as Georgie...I always just kinda assume he ate Georgie quickly because he just woke up from his long sleep cycle and was extra hungry. They don't say that in the movie and that's a fair point to criticize, but it's a good enough rationale for me as I watch it.

Whatever that kid actually grows up to be like just isn't going to feel or look right if he doesn't turn out exactly like James Ransone. To me it's rather something that I've noticed in modern movies, actors or characters not having chemistry. I don't know why that is. Yet after the mortal wounding of the one they had a crush on when they were young and a heartfelt confession to which they and the rest the group all reconfirmed their friendships for each other the final token was sacrificed and the ritual started to weaken Pennywise straight away.

Was that RPG game stuff with "find our magical items", that dragged it so much. It also made IT look even more stupid, because what's with all the scare stuff? In the series it felt more like IT was playing with them, but since the movie is solely focussing on making it look disgusting and scary, this doesn't work. HISHE made a fine joke in one of their 'evil bar" episodes, where all the loser antagonists sit around, Palpatin being the bartender. He tells IT, that it mistake was to repeat the same scare tactic over and over again, giving an example by scaring some other antagonist one time, what works, then a second time, what per se also works, but the guy then starts to trash around and attack. It's overall the biggest problem with IT. The idea to have some psycho demon thing, that eats fear is fine, but what's the point of IT not eating those kids? If they are protected somehow, why go after them and not just ignore them? Obviously all other people are not protected and without it going after that group, they wouldn't have done anything.

Always found It: Chapter Two critically underrated. Never really understood the unnecessary hate it got. Sure it’s not perfect, but neither was the first film. And IMO, It: Chapter Two did improve upon certain aspects of it, making for such an excellent companion piece to the first half of the story that’s emotionally fulfilling.

@RyansChannel02032 жыл бұрын
@@WillsonT011 1. 90% of the runtime is justified minus the Henry Bowers subplot. I suppose the second act could’ve been trimmed a bit as well, but that’s about it. 2. Chapter Two has tons of great moments whether it’d be from most of its memorable scares, all the actors giving excellent performances (especially Bill Hader who steals every scene he’s in), the character development each of the Losers get, and how each part of the film builds towards the final confrontation against Pennywise that’s not only epic, but concludes in such a satisfying way. 3. Chapter Two has just about as much CGI as the first film. Only difference is Chapter Two actually had the budget to make most of it look good or passable at worst. 4. If they didn’t go on that side mission towards the second act of the film, they would’ve stood no chance against Pennywise not remembering anything and without each of them coming to terms with their trauma. Verdict: The movie doesn’t suck

For me the thing I wasn't too into was I felt they could have done more pennywise scenes, like how brutal he's in the book, I felt like that was a lot of wasted potential of skarsgard as pennywise, considering how amazing he was as pennywise, I remember everyone thought he would be terrible then the first trailer came out and everyone got into it. He's definitely going to be interesting in John wick 4.
@Nimbus17012 жыл бұрын
Great reaction. The ritual is in the book and there are lots of weird concepts, like a floating cosmic turtle (named Maturin)..... it is like IT'S antithesis/opposite. Admittedly it is very hard to portray what is written in the book into any type of series of images that would make sense on the screen. There are subtly nods here and there to it though..... for instance, there are some images of ceramic turtles on a coffee/end table, some pictures scattered throughout the movies and I think some kind of toy in the thrift shop where Stephen King is. The book is an altogether different animal. Because of how KZbin censors things there is an entire scene in the book that occurs when the Losers Club are kids that is completely omitted in the movies. Honestly, they really couldn't have shot it how it was written or pretty much everyone would've gone to jail. If you know, then you know. The book is a masterpiece, but a fucked up masterpiece and it makes me wonder just what, and how many drugs King was on when he wrote it. Still is a scary book (and the movies are as well). There is a rumor of a "supercut" type of Director's Cut of chapter 1 and chapter 2 with lots of extra stuff, but it is supposed to be similar to the 2 part VHS miniseries in runtime and be closer to 6 hours. I've held off on buying Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 on 4k because I don't like the double-dipping that these asshole studios do with re-releases of variations of movies over and over again. I had thought that there was supposed to be a prequel movie in pre-production exploring the origins of the creature (IT) but it was right when COVID really started hitting and haven't heard anything since. Anyhoo.... just some answers to a few questions you guys had about the book compared to the movie(s)/miniseries. I always recommend books, but I've loved to read since grades school. This book.... IT.... is similar to the size of a phone book though, so that's a heads up if you are considering that, but I guess it really isn't in the age of downloadable everything, but it's a hefty read nonetheless.

I remember when this movie first came out in theaters, people hated the opening, complaining how the assault on the gay couple had no connection to the rest of the movie. Meanwhile it's obviously meant to tie into Richie's character arc, showing why he was afraid to be honest with others as well as himself about his own sexuality. The rampant homophobia in Derry is just another symptom of IT's curse on the town.

The director actually DOES wanna do an IT Super Directors Cut that will be one film with the edit changed slightly, but who knows when that will be relesed. I truly think that they did an excellent casting choice for the adults! They really do look like older versions of the kids. And I mean all of them. Stanley, Eddie, and Richie were spot on in my opinion. I haven’t read the entire book, im not even halfway through, but because it’s such a big novel and I have ADHD, I get overwhelmed and so I have tried reading it since June. But from what I read, it was outstanding!! So I would recommend the book. I watched IT book reviews and everyone says that it goes into depth with Pennywise’s story and it explains a lot of stuff that would make you have questions after watching the movies. So far my favorite part in the book was the whole carnival scene from the beginning of this chapter. Stephen King did a phenomenal job at describing what was going on. Like in the book, he really goes into depth with each character, even characters who aren’t that important. Tbh, from what I read, I liked it. I think im past the part where Stanley’s wife finds him dead in the tub. And I only know about Bev having sex with all the boys (as kids), in order to get out of the sewers. But I haven’t gotten to that part yet. Not sure when I’ll continue the book, but watching the movies really makes me in the mood to read it haha 😆 Btw, GREAT REACTION!!❤️
