It doesn't get much thicker than THIS | Garden Transformation!

Alrighty then folks, I'm back with another yard disaster transformation! This job came through, and I went around to do a =quote. When I got there, the tenants told me that the landlord and put the place up for sale, and they wanted to do a bit of a tidy up. Initially, I was asked to do a bit of a trim on the blackberries on the side and a mow. After having a look around, I said that I would do a full yard cleanup if they agreed to cover tip fees. They were more than happy for me to begin the transformation. There are 3 people living at this property, an elderly couple upstairs and a gentleman downstairs. The couple upstairs were a bit older and suffering from some ailments and the man from downstairs was off work due to an ongoing arm injury, so they really needed some help. I was happy to roll up my sleeves and get a bit done. All up, I spent around 14 hours on this job, including 3 trips to the landfill.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

Wouldn't have this kind of property to manage in the first place. Too many levels and spaces that collect and grow undesirable overgrowth. The drive way is a nightmare of steepness that must be a tough pill to maintain let alone walk and park on. Great change for the better. BRAVO!

It can’t help but look fantastic when you “get stuck in.” What you call a “general tidy up” is really a complete restoration. I’m not sure you completely understand how important the work you do is for the people for whom you do it. This is quite life changing for these people. Clearly they are overwhelmed by their life’s circumstances and you give them hope. You aren’t just doing lawn makeovers mate, you are giving people their lives back. Wow!!! When you do a makeover, it's a full-on, amazing, unrecognisable makeover!!! When you got the last big clump of blackberries down at the side of that house and stood on that little sort of platform part, you looked like a true victor, and you were! You do the most incredible job. I was glued to my laptop watching this. It was a big job, and an unusual yard with a lot of tricky bits. Bet you were cursing the concrete block retaining wall with all those little pockets of weeds! You did a really outstanding job, George, not just mowing and trimming etc but cleaning up the untidy mess at the back too. Bravo to you. PS I like the facial hair and the music was great!🙂
