Fundamental assembly errors. (1) DO NOT bend the legs (leads) of the devices by holding the device. The torque can break (weaken) the internal connection. Grip the leg near the body with with small pointed pliers, then bend. (2) DO NOT paint the solder on at the connection sites. Can lead to "cold" joint. Heat the joint and then apply solder.

3 different waterbug designs. When I was installing alarm systems, we often installed waterbugs at the bases of water heaters, to alert to leaks. Water heater leaks in the middle of the night, everybody in the house is waking up, along with a few neighbors. Exciting stuff.

One can make these projects with cheaper and fast switching BC 547 transistors. BD 139 is a power transistor and useful for comparatively high current loads.

Nice little circuits. I'm an old deaf electronics guy. I cheat. Take a smoke detector. Attach one wire to one side of the N.O. test switch the other to the other. Only downside is neighbours think there is a fire. Use it for if fish tanks leak. Add It to breadboard, make a a rain deretector for the clothesline if it starts raining, or your convertable. Nice simple cucuits 😊

I would recommend about 1 kohm series resistor with water sensing loop to limit the transistor base current. This will prevent burning the transistor, If the water sensing leads are accidentally shorted.

AC to DC uses a simple diode bridge rectifier. There are several ways to drop 24vdc to 12vdc depending on the desired application. I easily found them by googling it using commonly available components shown in the video.
