I'm not super interested in this as a commander, but i'll definitely be adding both this and Nemata, Primeval Warden to my Ghave, Guru of Spores deck. Nemata + Deathspore Thallid is great btw, you can kill anything with 1 toughness for free at instant speed and collect payoffs in the process.

I literally just built a Lurrus (as Commander) deck a few weeks ago. And now HEAVILY debating if I want to switch to this. Only thing is there are several KEY elements I don't want to be without (Altars, Ranger-Captain/Recruiter, Gary, Karmic/Reveillark, Dictate, Elenda, Smothering Tithe...). I like the idea of having Lurrus in the Command Zone, but having a Blood Artist effect is also VERY enticing... Choices choices!

White and Black have the most Tutors in those colors, I like the idea of building a more combo based deck with Elas and Enduring Renewal. Profane Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Grim Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, etc., then some X creatures or zero mana creatures with sac outlets and Enduring Renewal to go infinite on the spot. Gg wp. Of course this deck idea doesn’t have access to Lurrus, but it’s how I would want to utilize this Commander.

Don't know if this was mentioned, but because of the low CMC, Limited Resources could be devastating to your opponents. Questions: How would you be able to have an infinite loop with Kaya's Ghostform/Thornbite Staff/Soldevi Adnate/Lurrus combo? Lurrus would only let you cast one permanent spell from the graveyard, so wouldn't bringing back Kaya's Ghostform be your one permanent? Can you repeat casting the same permanent? Does Lurrus returning allow you a new opportunity to cast a permanent spell, returning Kaya's Ghostform? I like the idea, however, I think it's finite with the text on Lurrus. Love the content!

@19:10 You can only cast one card from the graveyard per turn because lurrus will see that it is the second time this turn so not infinite with lurrus tragic poet might work tho

That is incorrect, reason being is because when Lurrus dies and hits the yard he doesn’t see the first cast as he’s entering the battlefield as a new Lurrus… therefore the combo DOES work. Same thing when you flicker creatures.

@@LordCainhurst This is true if it were an etb but it is a static. If you were to copy lurrus with something like helm of the host you would still only be allowed to cast one card or two. I think one for the same reason. A new lurrus will still be able to count the cards cast from the graveyard this turn

definetely interesting, currently playing an ayara aristocrat deck, definetely missing some token generation with 2 mana but i guess you can always things like gravecrawler etc and other recursion. biggest downside for me, not being able to play my liliana planeswalker... on the other hand, i get to replay wayfarers bauble right?

Sure he's real into Sheoldred, but pilgram doesn't just mean has religion and will travel. IMO Elas il-kor, Suture Priest would have been the better callback to an old card.

Considering its a quick take on a prerelease spoiler and not a proper deck tech, I'm not a big fan of the heavy focus on using Lurrus. So many good cards that work with Elas that were completely missed simply because "but Lurrus". Elas should be the focus of the video, not Lurrus. Great cards that work with Elas but not Lurrus: Sidisi, Undead Vizier - an obvious one, Sidisi enters, triggering the first ability, exploit a creature, triggering the second ability, and tutor a card for another triggering of the first ability. Athreos, God of Passage - either works as the commander here. Brings your creatures back when they die, unless an opponent pays life to stop it. Could be better than Lurrus in some situations since its whenever a creature dies and not only once per turn. Dictate of Erebos - an additional death trigger, getting rid of your opponents' creatures as yours die for further punishment, not to mention triggering some of the effects similar to Elas that aren't limited to your creatures. Whip of Erebos - another way to bring creatures back from the graveyard, and gives lifelink as a bonus. Athreos, Shroud-Veiled - another way to bring creatures back. Target the stuff you want to protect to get a counter on them, then they come right back when they die. Even lets you steal opponents' creatures to trigger Elas more. Numerous cards that give tokens - more triggers for Elas and sacrifice fodder Bastion of Remembrance - another effect like Elas, giving you 1 life and pinging everyone else for 1 when your creatures die, also gives a token to help get started. Abhorrent Overlord - gives a bunch of tokens and an aristocrat effect Abiding Grace - another way to bring things back Some of these might not be the best options, but I'm not as knowledgeable about what cards are best. But this is just a sample of the potential cards that were missed because this focused more on Lurrus than Elas. And it should have focused more on Elas.

Probably not. It's an uncommon in a draft set that people are probably gonna buy a lot of, and it's in an archetype that doesn't really need more commanders - Teysa has already locked down most Orzhov Aristocrats decks that aren't going into this Lurrus theme.

I really wish these videos had more informative titles. It's always some like, "This can't be real!" or "This is insane!". It literally tells me nothing about the deck. I rather see something like, "Overwelm your opponents with squirrels" or "Card draw life drain". Something that tells me something about the deck and perks my interest enough to click on a 24min video.
