I only spent a couple years in minimum security back in 06-07. It wasn't a environment like Banky was in but I saw fights pop off over the smallest things. A "soup" (Ramen Noodles) or a candy bar can cause a fight. We could go to the canteen window twice a day and I saw fights because a guy missed the evening canteen on a Saturday and would have to wait until Monday morning.

How about segregating Inmates based on how many years left to serve? They all see the same degree of light in that tunnel. Sentences of 1-3 years, 4-6, 6 to 10, 10 to 17, 17 to 25, 25 to 50 Lifers seeing others going home in months while they have years is harsh. Some use jealous treachery to jam up the short timers.
