Man, my world turned upside down when I saw the most positive man, Ryan, of all people, sad and defeated. So glad for you and me and all of us that you found your bearings and so much positivity again to make it on a new trip with just a few days of preparation. What an example of resilience and positivity. And you know; what you radiate, you receive. Goes to show.

@@4x4ventures_southafrica allthough it made me sad with you, my compliments for laying bare your soul there. Important example for people who struggle not to keep it inside and for overlanders to see the struggles and not only the shiny parts. The highs get even higher thanks to the lows. Enjoy your trips to the fullest. Ps in july 23 was in Robins and on that same small road a.o past chingahobe dam (was it really detema in the film, and not chingahobe, if so boy it was dried out). Ryan, great video and content. I grew up in my teenager years traveling much of Southern Africa with my family, vehicle breakdown was stock standard on most of those trips...regardless of vehicle manufacturer. It is never a nice moment when it happens. Once it happened with us between Kang and Ghanzi, we where towed by a Namibian from Windhoek all the way to Gobabis. From there a flatbed to Swakopmund. My dad just kept the holiday going, stayed 3 weeks in Swakop, then drove back with a fixed vehicle... Love your work!

Thanks mate, and yes, it was a tough time and glad to be on the other side now. Shit man, that’s awesome and very kind of you to say. If I may; Keep creating, keep having fun, don’t worry about what others say, and most importantly have fun figuring it all out and learn constantly. Some chaps don’t have the patience, time or willingness to be better. Unfortunately, it’s easy to disappear in the repetition of what’s already been done, find your own voice and differences in your channel. You will do better than the rest if you learn from channels that appeal to you. KZbin is not easy, it takes long. Many channels have failed not from lack of trying, but spark in what they create. Be inspired by who and what you like legend. We salute you, and thank you again.

Great content. I have a question regarding your comments that it could have potentially been the bad fuel in Zambia that may have contributed in part to the failure you experienced. With that in mind what sort of risk mitigation measure could one take in order to minimize this risk. I’ve seen guys add tablets to their fuel in Botswana with a Pajero sport as it gave us a check engine light when we filled up obviously with bad fuel. Does anything like that exist? Great content. I always watch when I start planning my trips. Not nearly as extreme as your trips but I tend to learn something new. Thank you.
@4x4ventures_southafricaАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment and sorry for my delayed response. The poor fuel quality can be mitigated by a reliable and good diesel conditioner. I use flash lube, and a pre diesel filter. However, paraffin is the mix that over time can and will lead to pistons blowing. It happens, but educate yourself on the matter, as it seems to be a BIG business to local fuel cartels to thin out diesel with paraffin.

Good work 👍 Have witnessed this scenario over landing my way around Australia yes modern diesels are not tolerant to low grade/contaminated fuel maybe something to consider is to use a high quality filter funnel which pre filters while filling at the fuel pump also gives you a chance to visually check what’s going into the tank also if you haven’t already got a good aftermarket pre filter separator with warning light additionally to what the cars factory filters these things will buy you some preventative insurance so you get a long life from your new motor I in fact run a twenty yrld petrol car because I don’t trust modern diesel cars in super remote places but that’s not for everyone I know JA

Awesome Trevor and appreciate the feedback. Thanks for sharing. The ranger was at 147000 kms. No cleaning of the injectors was done. I was looking at doing them at 160 000kms though, but the gremlins heard my thoughts for sure. Take care and I’ll see you at the next one

Luckily you are close to home… imagine this happening in Maun, Goo Moremi or CKGR. I think we pushed our bakkies harder…

Had your Warranty expired? Perhaps you could look at taking out an extended mliage warranty on the New Motor? it may help out in future?.
