The player that spam invited Tyler was absolutely doing it maliciously to get Tyler's character killed. That mage quest is easier than people realise. Upon summoning, you immediately start moving back to the bridges. If there's one in the lead, you frost nova it and keep going until the other two de-leash, which should happen roughly mid-point of the bridge, then you kill the one you frost nova-ed.

I'm glad new players are willing to try the game. Guzu skipped past it, but shortly after logging into his new warrior, and setting everything up while talking to Soda, he began receiving spam invites, which didn’t pop up in the middle of his screen (which was nice) , but it did get posted in his chat window. They were coming so fast you barely had time to see that he received whispers, let alone read any whispers before they had scrolled off into oblivon.
