Also when its the future and you realize that the Japanese are perfect at predicting the future landscape of American politics. If we just think for a second and accept that even if Armstrong is in the right which he is, we'd still probably would've never expected someone to unironically act like him in real life and still get elected. Sure Trump didn't get reelected and sure he might not have started saying eff the media until it was post 2016, but he was sayin shiz like we need to make America great again. It's still so amazing how the Japanese predicted that this kind of personality would arise in the future...that or Trump was just plagiarizing Armstrong's speeches the entire time.

His points are correct, but so are Raiden's, in that his methods are flawed and ignore some facts of reality, but the actual goal and mindset are completely valid. My first fight with Armstrong was legendary, I didn't knew how to escape excelsior attacks so I lost a bunch of health on that and in the first scripted battles with the senator, when was time for the real deal the final fight of the game I was out of healing supplies but at least I had 190% hp and maxed energy(I like exploring a lot so lost only 1 hp upgrade), what made the fight so special is ALL OTHERS boss battles you can survive if you have prepared but for this last fight? I didn't had any items left so the only way to survive is doing what dark souls players do all the time, the classic ''git good'', so I did after so many deaths, so many resets, many suffering, and almost ALMOST ragequitting I learned how to counter every single attack even the insane rock-throwing special attack until finally, I won, my friends that was one of the best victories I ever had in a videogame, that with the legendary music? truly perfection. PS: in PC the control of zanzatsu sucks, is really hard to control it so the rock attack was a nightmare but there is a catch if you run like hell towards the boss and stay directly below the boss(he jumps into an unreachable wall area of the arena having the higher ground) he can't throw the rocks at you, is so simple yet unbelievably effective lmao.

He doesn't though, his society is just one that builds on the same rot our current way does but where those who have the means to control aren't beholdent to the population but are in charge due to circular logic. By forgetting what enables someone to be strong and resourceful, a varied diet, time to workout, higher education and access to advanced medicine, we forget that all these things are built on wealth. This would be no different in Armstrong's utopia, it'd be the exact same bullshit except the wealthy would feel like they deserve their place in society even more. A good corporation doesn't let small fry stir up to one day face them, they set out to control their market so nobody can challenge their growing dominion. Why would a powerful person in Armstrong's world act any different? Virtue? Inherent virtue associated with the strong/pure? Now we're moving into a mixed field of Christian theocracy and eugenics, so let's not.

I think what makes Armstrong interesting is that you really can't say for sure if he believes his own ideas. The front he puts forward in the first encounter makes him seem like a very generic political warhawk. Suit and tie, feeding the war economy, all that stuff. Then he throws that off and shows you his "True colors" But I'm not so sure he believes it himself. He goes on his long winded speech about America being completely corrupt and unsalvageable, but in doing so he invokes so many "American-isms" alongside quotes from some of the most famous and influential Americans to exist that it's hard to tell if he really believes that or not. "A land of the truly free" " We'll make America Great Again" "I have a dream" He channels presidential figures like Reagan and freedom fighters like MLK , hell, even the Star Spangled Banner. You could say that the memes of "American-ism" Have propagated through him so strongly that even in someone who wants to tear the whole system down, he can't help but speak its language. Maybe his entire point is that the "American-ism" He's adopted as a worldview is no longer shown in the America he lives in, or maybe he thinks its all a lie but still can't help but act it out
