As a second generation Dutch Canadian, can I just say that I LOVE listening to you speak. ❤ It almost feels like I’m visiting with a Dutch relative, and when you try and find the right English words I find myself cheering you on as you try different ways to say it. I wish I spoke Dutch - it’s such a beautiful language and a beautiful heritage that brings me so much joy to listen to. ❤️ Someday I hope to visit!!

Yes, filet crochet is the English term for the style your mother used in that gorgeous blanket. I've never tried it but I guess it's just a matter of reading the chart, so I just might give it a try. Love your podcast. Thanks!

Hi Sarah! I’m coming to you from North Carolina. I started as a knitter for many years, but after a head injury, it was too hard to do. I have a wonderful friend that helped to teach me how to crochet Granny rectangle blankets (only one Granny square/rectangle that you do around and around until you have the size you want. For babies to adult size.) Most I love to donate to a children’s cancer center here where I live. That makes it “heart jumping” for me to make, and “heart jumping” for the children too! I can now knit again, and love to make socks 🧦 Love EVERY podcast❤ Thank You!

My two blankets that I am currently working on are the crochet Summer Fade Hexi( using farmers daughter and Koigu), which will be a wedding gift. And the knit blanket is the Ten Stitch blanket for myself(using Zauberball and cascade heritage). I am make both holding fingering double for a dk weight. Love, love, love this episode! So much so, I watched it twice. I too have Miss Perfect who pays me a visit from time to time and I love her most of the time. But I also have Miss Magic who is my fairy godmother. Just when I feel dumbfounded (perplexed) with a yarny problem Miss Magic comes charging to the rescue waving her magic wand and then lo and behold a brilliant idea pops into my head. Here’s to multiple personality disorder! Chuckle, chuckle. P.S. Thanks to your inspiration I am halfway through my first crochet project and it is a Granny Square blanket. I am completely “hooked”.

I have enjoyed your KZbin video today, Sarah, thank you! I agree all the projects that you have made, and are in the process of making our as you say ”Heart Jumping”! 😃 as I’m watching your video. I am also drawn to the natural colours in your space that is beside your desk with your natural wood and wicker and your plants! It’s very calming, and I believe you have a glorious, dark purple, or blue color, orchid or irises and I think it is very beautiful and would love to get a a better view as those colours in that little nook in your room would be beautiful combined together in a project such as a blanket. I also very much enjoy making blankets! Thank you for your wonderful expressive commentary as you discussed your projects. Take care & thank you!💞🇨🇦

Sarah your blankets are lovely. The blanket your mom made inspired me to do filet crochet. It is resting now as I have been working on a knitted Felix pullover. I also have church friends that recently had new baby grandchildren that I made sweaters for. Have you tried Tunisian crochet? I really enjoy doing it for blankets. As always, I enjoy tuning in to your videocast. Your enthusiasm makes me smile.

Sarah, another beautiful podcast. You put so much effort into your projects, but it doesn’t ever sound like work because you truly love what you’re doing. You always make me smile! Thank you. Oh, in the one part you had the squares turned on angles. You said you didn’t like the word diagonally. You pronounced it with a soft ‘g’ so it sounded like a’j’. The ‘g’ is actually hard like when you say go. Try that and maybe you’ll like the word a little more. 😊 Have a wonderful week!

Thank you for this exciting blanket episode. I have recently been bitten by the blanket knitting/crochet bug. A tip for the weave-as-you-go method. Lay out your squares in the order you desire. Then working from the square you will add last to the first square, spike the squares through the centre using straight knitting needles. You will end up with piles of squares in the desired order held together by the knitting needles. Also a use for straight knitting needles which you may seldom use.

Your blankets are giving me all the sparkly feels Sarah! I love them all. I’m very late to crocheting and have started a few, but have left them languishing. I must pick them up again and give them some love. I also came to a standstill with my cosy memories but I’m now thinking I will just finish it off as lap size and be done with it. I much prefer the look of the northeasterly blanket and it would be better for using up all of the scrap and not just a few grams of each one. I have a lot of leftover sock yarn! 🧦🧦🧦 Your stories are always so engaging and entertaining. 🤎🤎🤎
