The trick is that the "full" bar is impercievably smaller than the starting one but still has the same shape and grid pattern. Basically imagine trimming the edge of the chocolate bar so thinly that nobody could tell the difference and then melting it, that trimmed amount of chocolate is equal in volume (or surface if we're talking 2D from above) as the piece that seemingly spawned out of nowhere

As a solid 3.0 student who took all "college-prep" classes; I was taught math that a thing in my pocket can do better, the same 3 topics in history, and how to read. Practically nothing about critical thought, research, job interviewing, money management, basic cooking, car maintenance, the law, interpersonal relationship skills, etc.. And in the end I failed testing into Jr. college courses.
