Bonus if your branch piece is cut from a tree with known antibacterial and/or antimicrobial properties, like cedar, pine, or willow. Leeching might be minimal, but every little bit helps in a survival situation.

I think his aim was to show us a short but informative video as a channel promo to get us to quickly understand that a branch can act as a water filter in a survival situation to remove bacteria He tells us that he shows us different survival techniques on his channel (which I’ve not yet clicked on yet but will be after watching this video) From my background knowledge in survival skills and microbiology - in order to make filtered / clear / clean looking water safe to drink it needs to be boiled However, in a survival situation we may only have access to “dirty” items to boil the water we get from any source (such as hot rocks or charcoal which he shows us in the video) this will essentially kill or inactivate most pathogens such as viruses, mold and protozoa etc - but would likely introduce pathogen free particles into the water So depending on the boiling method you have available it may have to be filtered again.. explaining the hypotheticals and nuances isn’t achievable in such a short video and he could end up saying something that would detract from his overall message of the filtering process and going on his channel to understand more if survival skills is what you’re interested in - I hope this helps 😊☮️

Very nice tips id like to include some when stumbling on a lake or a river look for the surrounding If birds are drinking from the river, lake it should be safe enough to drink Birds are more sensitive then us and the slightest bacteria/parasite/viruses hit them can kill them, Food could be either hard or mediocre For example if ur in a Amazonian forest - rest in peace If you’re in an average European forest then ur in luck

The original methods in the Old days were only getting water that dripped down through stone overhangs, from springs or digging into sand next to a water source & waiting for the grit to settle. Unfortunately, we destroyed many springs, privatized others & sold all the sand/ redirected rivers for other purposes & buried the sand or otherwise caused it to erode away.

Water in a life or death situation, is no different than an emergency blood transfusion in a life or death situation. You may get sick or die... but you were already going to die anyway.
