Thank you for posting the video. I hope that your experience was better than mine, I did one 6-month contract with carnival Cruise and I will never work for another cruise line again. Cruise lines spend the absolute bare minimum on anything that you can't take a picture of and put in a magazine to make people want to come take a cruise with them. The only things that had any kind of budget were the guest attractions, The accommodations, and the food. This was back in 2015 and even then the equipment that we were given to work with was outdated by at least 5 years, half of the machines were still using Windows XP, the POS systems in the stores were still running on top of Windows 2000, the laptops had Intel atom processors. Everything was constantly breaking or simply not working correctly and it was extremely aggravating. We were only getting paid $11.50 an hour and we were on call every single day and every single night. No exceptions. I was lucky if I got three uninterrupted hours of sleep during the entire stay. I didn't realize this at the time but even though the company and the cruise ship were American, The ship was actually registered and flying the flag of Aruba to avoid paying American taxes and also they didn't have to adhere to the labor laws of America.

I got a change to go onboard at Independense of the Seafor firts time, I applied trought Linkedin, the whole process took almost 2 months since I applied for until I signed the pre contract, Salary was expected for $2,150 monthly for 26 week contract, I have computer science degree and 8 year of experience in IT, unfortunately... I won't go onboard due to family reasons, onboarding was expected to december 6 2021

OK I'm 70. Great health all around (Hey last two Presidents were/are 70+!). I am working IT contact jobs since no company will hire an old person. Liability is too great in case one a has to be let go, for any reason. (Thank g'ment for this. Not!) I want to work IT on a cruise ship. Are you aware of cruise ships not wanting old IT workers? Are cruise ship workers like land contract workers? IOW can be let go without liability? Which is good for possibility of working with a cruise line. Working as a (land) contract worker I am actually working for TEKSystems. But that would not be the case on a cruise ship. Any insight? Sure would appreciate it.

Hi Tomar, Firstly thanks for making this video its very helpful. I have a question if you would be so polite to answer it would be a great help ! I am aiming to get a entry level IT position on a cruise ship. I am hoping my resume will be sufficient. I graduated with a Sound Engineering degree (not computer science but still a technical degree) Since graduating i have been working at my University as an AV / IT technician on campus. I have been doing this job for 7 months now. I am also working towards an additional qualification called CTS. My work in paying for this, it essentially covers Audio, Networking and Video topics (projectors etc). Fingers crossed i pass the certificate. With these 3 items on my cv, in your opinion, do you think my resume would be strong enough to secure an entry level position IT position on a cruise ship? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
