The reasons why I like Slaf: -He has a super good work ethic: Important for a young gun in NHL. -He is super super talented and good all around. He is able to create offensive chances will his skills and still manage to back check and play puck boards very well. Kinda like Matthew Tkachuk potential offensively from what ive seen. His defense reminds me of Kopitar. -He is great under pressure. He plays with the label as the best Slovakian Hockey player by some. He also is a first overall pick on the toughest market or one of in Montreal. And he still dosent bite. Another good sign to show he probably will be consistent in the season and playoffs. -He has a great frame. This gives him a big advantage on keeping his balance and the puck on his stick while also being able to throw big hits. -Hes not a very injury troubled player. Yes his rookie year he had that 43 games season ending one. But that's his only real injury from prospect-pro Hockey. Habs need durable players. And he looks super durable. -He loves Montreal. A lot of players come to Montreal and get hyped up. They don't perform right away and get booed. That's why people avoid Montreal. But Slaf recognizes they are just passionate and uses it as fuel. Overall. Slaf is a big winger who has a lot of talent with and without the puck. He can play that gritty defensive game like Kopitar. While having offensive upside of a Matthew Tkachuk. This is his celling. His floor is in my opinion Brady Tkachuk. A high bar yes but he's represented every trait of him at 19 years old in Montreal playing line 1. Along with his super good work ethic. His desire to play in Montreal and the fact his game is unique in the fact that it will translate well to playoffs. The Habs drafted a star. The best fit. And best player. I think next year he will again plays 82 games. But this time register 31 goals. 47 assists. For 78 points. Playing over 19 minutes a game. Being top 50 in hits and takeaways and a +12.

Oh not only can he play but he can chirp! He had three assists and great play but the headlines are all about his chirping the Kazakhstan team! 😄 Atta boy! The issue I noticed during this season was his penalty minutes. At first he wasn't very aggressive, then he seemed to be accumulating a few extra penalty minutes. Yet the last month or more of the season he seems to be more "in control." A young defenseman, 6 ft 4 in 230 lbs, could spend his career only using his size separating players from pucks- clearly Slaf is working on how to use that size with skill and control. That was a big sign of growth I saw this past season Control. You've got yourselves a winner Habs! He's one of those players teams won't want to play, nor chirp against!

I like the intensity and leadership he's shown in the tournament but he'll need to learn to not let his emotions take over...also, he may need to back it up in the NHL. That thing with Pinto was a bit embarrassing too..

Very good progress in Slafkovsky so far but still has ways to go before he is the dominant power winger in the NHL. All part of his progress and growth and so far looking very promising.
