This is the 1st of 6 wins of the US$100,000 in a TEAM format. The biggest win is by Christine Denos and Jack Wagner in 2006. They won US$142,550. This one is the 2nd of 13 US$100,000 wins overall (minus Becca Rhine's win of US$128,177 in 2007 despite having the Winnebago Access on her envelope worth US$67,177) in Wheel.

There are several valid reasons. The house minimum was $500 even for teams, there was no Prize Puzzle, and the Mystery Wedge was only worth $500 per letter. Further, in a sweep, one contestant or team will lose their turn at least once, and another at least twice. With all this, an average of about $3,150 per round (excluding Toss-Ups) shouldn't be that surprising.

@eepruls People do pick the vowel out of order now and then. If someone does pick the letters in the wrong order, they show them in that order at the bottom of the screen. I've only ever heard of one person using that to spell out a word though - about 10 years ago, a guy named Chad picked C, H, A and D in the bonus round, and that's how it showed up on-screen.

Now that COVID-19 hit is when things really started to go downhill. Seasons 38 and 39 are probably the least watchable for me. All the episodes took place in one location, not a single week with team players, and no audience, not even ones to cheer a player on in the Bonus Round. That's probably just me but I love seeing a show on the road and team players. Also the prizes in the Bonus Round are so weak. It's usually the season's minimum, $45,000, $50,000, a car, and $100,000. I remember back then when they had $25,000, and many interesting cash prizes like $30K, $35K, and $40K. And now that Harry Friedman retired who imo is a lot better than Mike Richards and whichever other ones we had. Seasons 20 - 23 will always be my favorite seasons.

The producers aren't stupid. They know people are going to pick those same D, M, C, A letters and purposely choose words without them (or with very few of them). People choose them because they're the most used after R, S, T, L, N, E. But bonus round words always have less used letters in them like F, W, or K and have vowels like 'U' and 'O'. But of course the people never pick those; they continue to pick the D, M, C, A and the producers just keep choosing words without them! LOL

Joseph Womer In the early days, the champion had to select five consonants and one vowel for the bonus letters in the bonus round. RSTLNE was the most common combination selected. Several years into the primetime run, the show changed its bonus round rules where the champion was now given RSTLNE outright and had to then select three consonants and one vowel from the remaining letters in the alphabet. The time to guess the puzzle was also trimmed from 15 seconds to 10.
