I disagree: trade MANGIAPANE before the season start. We need the roster space, and it's in Bread's interest to get started with his new team and city. We know they'll love him. AGREE on keeping KUZMENKO: our PP was garbage until he showed up. Also AGREE on keeping COLEMAN- overachievers are contagious!

Coleman has a no trade I believe and kuzy is a good flame... Looks good in our colors too love both of them. Mang is a gem but hasn't played too his contract and there are a few young guns who can replace him unfortunately. I see him doing well in say Carolina. He's gonna be liked where ever he goes.

Kuzmenko looks to me like he wants to be on the team. Those are the kind of players we need while rebuilding. He is also young and will be a good mentor for upcoming players while we are rebuilding. In my opinion he is a perfect 3rd or even 2nd line forward on an elite team, which he would fit very well on. I would like to keep him. Mangiapane can go, I don't think he is worth hanging on to for our rebuild. Coleman is one of my favorite guys on the team, he is always one of, if not the hardest working players on the ice. Perfect 4th liner on any elite team, and has the ability to play on 3rd, 2nd or even 1st line during our rebuild. He is exactly the kind of mentor our new players should be learning from. Would be a mistake to trade him...he's one of those players you don't realize how important they are until they are gone... I hope he stays. Thanks for the update Mark hope you have a good week

I think the Flames would be foolish beyond belief to trade Kuzmenko. He's a natural goal scorer and our best goal scorer and when have we ever had one of those in the last decade or more? When you have a team that often struggles to score enough goals, the last thing you want to do is trade away one of the few players you have who's a bona fide goal scorer. Sharingovich is another in this category who should also be off limits as far as trade talks go. Assuming Kuzmenko continues scoring at a good pace next season, the Flames should try their best to extend him and only trade him at the deadline if it becomes abundantly clear that he won't re-sign with the Flames. I know his +/- isn't great but that can be improved with good coaching. Natural goal scorers are a rare and valuable commodity so whe you get one you do everything you can to hold onto them and sign them long-term.

The current return capital is too high for Mang, Kuzzy and Coleman relative to the current state of CGY and direction. I think most CGY fans know this. I would love to see all of them go on or before draft. Coleman came here to win, he needs to go somewhere he can win. Kadri, same same. Conny will make these actions.

You want to move Mangiapani before the season starts, especially if you're planning to have Pelletier, Coronato, Zary, and Pospisil all on the opening night roster. If you can get a late 1st rounder for Kuzmenko you consider it, otherwise move him at the trade deadline. If he has another good year next year you can still make him an offer (provided it's reasonable) and go from there. Sharangovich seems to be the biggest wild card, you should be trying to resign him this summer. If you don't succeed you know he's leaving so be ready to flip him as well. Debrusk or Duclair would be your forward free agent considerations. For defense Dumba or Barrie on very low cap short-term deals. Your decision-making will also depend on who we draft at #9. If it's a defenseman they could slot into the lineup as early as this year. D-man typically take longer to develop but not if they're as good as Dickinson, Perkh, or Buium.

I guess everyone is available if the return is there, but if we dealt all of the players in the trade rumours we wouldn't be able to ice a team let alone hit the cap floor. 😄 I would imagine there are certain players mgmt. has already decided they aren't moving unless someone really ponies up. I would say Coleman is likely one of those guys, at least he would be for me. We have to have solid veteran leadership for the kids. Kadri has been great in that role but we don't have a ton of veteran leadership. A winger opening with Coleman and Backs seems like a good place to shelter a new face if we deal Mange.

But at the end of the day, it’s a business, and $5.8M is way too much for 14 goals and 40 points from a guy who hasn’t even scored as many total goals in the two seasons since signing his contract as he did in the one season that won it for him. I honestly think he would thrive in Toronto, and would love to see him skate for his hometown Leafs.
