Great review! I think you nailed all the positives of the early game. You are still in what many people consider the "tutorial" phase of the game (which is kind of a joke but you'll see why when you get to a certain story quest). From that point on the game opens up even further, and the story is non-stop excellence all the way through to endgame. I would love to hear a followup review after you have gotten through those critical story points.

By far the game I have the most time spent in. I recently started playing again too, turns out since I last played around Covid times they've added some phenomenal endgame content shoring up the only weak area I felt the game had. Can't emphasize enough how great the game economy is and how nice it is to trade for platinum in-game when I want it. I look forward to your story streams! :)

Warframe is one of those games that is incredibly popular yet you seem to never hear about unless you seek it out or just browse free games. You get all kinds of warframe players flocking to any video of a new player playing the game.

Warframe has soo many great points to it, my only real complaint with it is I always catch up to the story missions and then have to wait months/years for the next part lol. also yes, this game has the best community I have ever experienced. Everyone is so nice and generous. I hate the trading system needed to buy and sell things to other players...but so does everyone else, so the process is usually so very smooth and effortless between players, almost scripted really. Really interesting tbh. Its free, if you havent played it, try it out. Make it to Neptune, start the 'real' beginning of the game (only spoiler i will hint at there) have a blast with amazing cutscenes and music.

I recommend streaming or making edited content of your reactions to playing through quests, trying out new warframes or weapons even, stuff like that. People from the community, such as myself, enjoy watching players experience the game as they go. Quests in particular are a big one so if you happen to maybe wanna get some views included with helpful tips, i would go that route.

An example tip might be the "head" of corpus robots is actually on their chest. The top part is their gun and you deal half damage to it ;)

Yeah, the reason the game goes from a really well done tutorial to aimless wandering is because the tutorial is newly redone, but the early starchart is some of the game’s oldest, least polished material. Just follow the quests and the junctions to new planets, and you’ll be in the meat of it soon enough!

Wanted to like Warframe, but the offset 3rd person view makes it next to impossible for me to move in a straight line or aim straight (a problem I have in all games with that perspective - RE4, GTA IV & V, Remnant, etc...) and I couldn't tweak the controls to be comfortable. :(

I advise ignoring the pvp aspect. Everyone else does. It is a notoriously bad mode to the point of it being near impossible to find any pvp matches as no one plays it.

"If you ask for the story of Warframe, you won't get many answers because the community is proud of it and won't say much." (Not exact wording, I know.) Buddy, I could give you an hour long talk on the story of Warframe and you won't *understand* any of it, so there's no point. Half the userbase doesn't understand it. There are hour-long videos on the lore for a reason. Giving you a story lesson requires me to give you a history lesson on the entire backstory of the whole game universe or you'll just keep asking "why?!" or "who is that that just showed up in the story?!"

I will say that toxicity does exist on Warframe. Specifically in the Eidolon battles. I'm going to say this isn't a spoiler because it's one of the first things you'll see -- a giant metal monster walking the Plains. You can fight that. There's enough time to do the full three-tiered fight about THREE times per night. If someone is slow, they could botch it for their whole team (to start the next tier of the fight, every party member has to take an item to the next part). People get REAL bent about this because you only get 50 minutes at night to get your three fights in and then you have to wait a whole hour and a half to fight them again. This is never a problem elsewhere in the game because players get so strong that someone falling behind isn't an issue. There are players that can even solo the Eidolon. But you have to get everyone where they need to be, on time, to progress.

That's a fair criticism. It is generally a pretty casual game. They have been doing some stuff to address that in new content, but new players should not go in expecting things like Raids or Dungens in Destiny 2.

At the stage of the game I'm at now, the "Power Fantasy" feel is great for progression, but I certainly am hoping that the later game has some challenging content. I've still died plenty, of course. The first attempt at The Jackal was pretty tricksy.

@@quill18 Last I played, which was _several_ major content updates ago, there were a few heavily scaling and _highly_ rewarding pieces of content that necessitate the sort of mastery you learn by progressing your ...mastery rank and learning from other players. And of course getting into the few ways to make your gear truly stronger rather than just being side-grades, forma...good gods so. many. forma. You have quite a lot of game to go through to get to those points, but it's well worth the time.

You aren’t forced to do them as the reward tables cycle every for iterations, but it always felt good for me to find a group that crushed 3 digit level enemy waves. And with the huge variety of warframes and weapons there is a playstile for most people.
