Just saw this the other day. It was very, very good. Rachel really kicked ass, and in the best tradition of so many British actresses, she's able to have show command without coming across as shrill and angry. Another thing I liked about the film was that the rivalry came from a real place of self interest. It wasn't just two insecure women going at each other. By the way the story is actually is based on historical events.
@elementSe346 жыл бұрын
Good point with the command. I loved the moments when she struck a dominant pose in the film. Really believable.
@andrewtucker946 жыл бұрын
I agree about the 'self-interest' angle. It's not just cattiness or jealousy (although there's some of that involved), it's real make or break political intrigue. Thought it was great to see the genders flipped this time, with the men being generally foppish and largely irrelevant. A nice change.

Just saw The Favourite tonight-great film. Watching this interview, I forgot how naturally deep and husky Stone's voice is. As an American, I'm not the best judge of whether she nailed the British accent, but simply comparing her cadence in the film to her natural speaking voice, it's very clear that she was heavily modulating her voice for the role.
