Without his laugh, it would have been taken seriously. Love the slapstick. Thank you for these very happy giggles. Xx

This show was like the Champions League crossed with Benny Hill and Monty Python. I loved it! One particular memory was the games where an Italian woman with a megaphone would be attempting to direct a blindfolded colleague to do something, failing and losing her rag like a stereotypical Italian. 🤣

I ask for anyone watching this to briefly put aside what Stuart Hall had done and just watch the clip. These shows were a very big part of my childhood and I have great memories of my family & I watching these. We were all wetting ourselves laughing - it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on t.v. It was straight up, honest fun - the kind you just don't get anymore, and you have to admit it, his laugh was very infectious.

Except that they hardly had any success. I think from memory Blackpool won the title in the early 70s but nobody else did. We played by the rules and consequently the only ones we finished ahead of were the Belgians.

Stuart Hall was always entertaining. This is a classic and never fails to make me laugh and his football reports on Saturday afternoons were always enjoyable. Such a shame that it's all been tarnished by his actions.

So many happy memories! Winter’s evening, chippy tea with all the family then settling down by the one-bar electric fire with my Rubiks cube & gonks for an evening of colour-contrasted wholesome family entertainment; Frank Bough reading out the sports news on Grandstand, then Jim’ll Fix it followed by Rolf On Saturday, all topped off with this gem. If we were lucky, Mam had a box of Rowntree’s Weekend and I’d look up in wonder through the pink patch on my NHS specs hoping for the lime cream. Looking back now, it’s probably all just a matter of time before we see Sooty, Sweep & Bungle off of Rainbow on our screens with a scrolling >BREAKING NEWS< banner, stroboscopically illuminated by paparazzi’s camera flashes as they’re ushered into the back of a police van with a blanket over their heads 😢

Look at the women contestants in bikinis it was a different world back then and even worse before. Messing around with kids isn't funny but wouldn't mind betting the ladies from those times complaining now were well up for a bit of celeb back then. What I don't understand is none of the sex drugs and rock and roll fraternity being involved they ploughed anything that moved back in the day.
@ericwilliams23176 жыл бұрын
In fairness, they were getting water thrown all over them - hence the bikini's. Jeez, could you imagine doing that now? All that safety equipment they'd be wearing, the endless paperwork from the "Health & Safety Executive", Anti -slip mats, not to mention the counseling needed from seeing people falling over (Oh, the trauma!) They would have had to attend courses on how to lift terribly heavy buckets of water and there would be an army of ambulance chasing lawyers waiting in the wings in case of accidents. Need I go on? Kids of today, you don't know what you missed.
