Never ceases to amaze me how chilled your cats are around your birds. My cat would for sure be trying every way possible to stalk and eat them. I guess it must be because they’ve always been around birds since kittens and were taught not to touch them? My cat is an indoor cat but loves nothing more than to watch and stalk birds all day long from inside the house (so no birds ever harmed).

I love my mattock although it is a bit smaller than yours, Gail. I live in the desert with lots of rocks in my yard; my mattock has been an invaluable tool for the last 26 years. I'm glad you waited until winter to post your summer chores; it is nice to see leaves on trees and bees in flowers. Happy New Year! Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.

I always loved Ave Maria played on violin and it was lovely to hear it this morning . Glad to see you making cordage , There is a lady on here YT that makes the most beautiful baskets from ivy . brambles and nettle cordage through weaving it , to make pouches and baskets . Living in St. Monan's near Elie near Ruby Bay in a fishing village ; I am fascinated by the old creels and baskets that they have in the museum here . Anyways your cat is very contented haha and lovely. My husband died in October which you may or may not of heard by now through the community.

That really is a lot of labor and love! I would be quite interested in seeing before and after video shots of your projects. The effort you both put into these massive clean up jobs has my utmost respect and appreciation of your dedication to and love of this property. I remember when you first tackled the huge overgrown field at the front of the property. The overhead shot of it in today's video was astounding! That tool is like the grubbers we use here in South Island of NZ for grubbing thistles and dock. Except the ones we used didn't have the pick bit on the other side. Just the flat grubber side. You never said you were bored in my Fathers hearing ....you had the grubber in your hand and were sent out to the back paddocks on the farm before you could say "Jack Robbins".

I replaced my mini chain saw with a cordless reciprocal saw and find it has much more power, the blades are inexpensive considering how long they last, there are blades for all kinds of purposes, and the blades are very easy to switch out. With the projects I've seen you do indoors and out on your videos, I believe you would get your money's worth out of one. I have an Avhrit 300W. It's easy on batteries (comes with two and a charger) and comes with a carrying case. I've dug up a lot of large roots in the soil, and branches and small trees.

Oh my stars, such lovely soil! I have three mattocks: two regular sized and a small on with a short handle for the kind of weeding you were doing in the latter part of the video. I have done amazing landscaping with a mattock. It's sort of like a hand-plow. You can spin that nettle as you would linen, but you'd have to use a wheel suited for linen, and you'd have to keep the fibers wet as you spun. God bless you ladies.
