Hi Valorie, I’m sitting here watching snow fall down outside from the kitchen window and eating bowl of steamy beef and noodles. Life is busy but tonight I’m sitting by a roaring fire thankful for our cozy home and a family to love. I love the way your new home is coming along with your renovation. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving❤😊

So, I cut the flowers under hot water @ an angle, and use plant food. Every few days, I retrim the stems, add more water..also misting roses helps them last longer.

As a northerner who lived in Georgia for five years as a teenager,I was confused by the concept of eating beet and turnip greens as that part was something thrown away to eat only the actual vegetable. They also didn’t look appealing to eat, more like something that spewed out of the lawnmower. 🫢 However, since my mother always taught me to try everything at least once, I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed a friend’s dish of “greens”. (I also maintain that even cardboard would taste delicious if cooked in a pound of bacon!) 😂😅🤣

Oh Laura! Your reply made me giggle. I've lived in Georgia all my chasing 70-years and I still won't eat the stuff spewed out of a lawnmower. haha. That is the best description i've ever read. Turnips taste like dirt to me as does peanuts. Can't even think about taking another bite of a turnip. A friend canned turnips with redhots and told me i'd love them. No, I didn't. They ended up looking like a beet in color but that didn't help as I don't eat beets. Hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

When preparing flowers, have your water ready. Cut the ends of the stems and place them into the water immediately. It only takes mere seconds for the cut stem to varnish over and it will not drink. In a few days, take the flowers out, change the water and give the stems another cut about half inch to an inch up the stem and they will continue to drink. This will give you the longest life possible on your cut flowers from the grocery.

When we renovated our home the dust from the dry walls got everywhere , and took ages to actually settle, the one place I paid close attention to was the hood above my cooker as I forgot one day and ended up trashing a whole meal as the dust had fallen into the pans , so happy that you found someone to do it though so the mess I’m sure you can tolerate

When I cook greens all I do is, rinse the meat off, put meat in a pot with water, add onion, let it cook for maybe an hour. Add green, very small amount of salt and pepper cover let it cook until greens are tender. I would hold up on the vinegar and sugar. When they are tender taste the stock and adjust to taste,if you want sugar, this is where I would add. I don't use sugar nor vinegar. I would use a pepper sauce on top for myself to eat. I cook greens using smoked ham hocks or smoked neck bones (have to be smoked). You lay the leaves together, roll, and cut across.

I was just wondering why you are wearing a boot. I just had to have four weeks of shots in my knees and my left heel. I was in so much pain and they put me in a boot to sleep. my husband has spinal stenosis and neuropathy so I have been the only one doing anything for six months he cannot do anything. so I guess I just did my self in . you work so hard I wish I could work as hard as you I used to be able too but I will say the shots helped me immensely. So I had to speak up and tell them it had been six months with my heel I couldn’t stand any more pain and they shot my heel this Monday . Thank heaven so I will Hopefully be able to take care of him till I can get him back surgery hope your foot or leg gets better soon Love your channel happy thanksgiving now on to Christmas !!!!!!

Hi Valerie. Everyone tells me my collards are the best. I’m not allowed to go to our thanksgiving reunion without them!😊 All I do is cook a couple of ham hocks until they fall of the bone. After I cool them, I remove any bones, gristle and the thick skin. I then add my cleaned and chopped collards little by little until they all fit into the pot. Cover with water, add salt and pepper, and about 1/4 cup of sugar. Sugar helps to take away some of the bitterness that collards can have. Bring to a boil for about an hour. I then turn my heat to low and let them cook for several hours. Check often and you may have to add a little more water a couple times. Then just enjoy!
