here's something about that chinese mug... way back in the day, like around the late 1800s, there used to be a myth/joke that chinese women's, uh, hoohoos were horizontal, not vertical like a hoohoo is. i think that's the "joke" about the mug. no offense to Tim, of course, as it's a very obscure joke these days.

I feel I need to explain the Irish reference to non UK viewers. It used to be a thing for a lot of Irish jokes to be made basically in a way that meant they were daft or to say someone was 'Irish' was calling them daft. So the joke with the mug is that because it's Irish it was made with the handle inside. That's what he was referring to when he said it was now politically incorrect & maybe calling it a 'mugs' mug instead. Mug is also a word used to denote someone stupid as in 'John is such a mug'. Hope this clears up the confusion some are obviously having with the comment.
