This has been my review of the 2023 Tesla Model S PLAID. This car puts traditional internal combustion engine sports car to shame with its 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. With its 100 kWh electric battery, tri-motors, it can be propelled 0-60 mph in a claimed 1.99 seconds (using peak power) Real world conditions in plaid mode that I tested I consistently got 2.5 seconds. It has 1,020 horsepower (peak) and 1,050 ft-lbs of torque (peak)

How does Tesla get away with advertising 1.99 0-60? Has anyone ever achieved under 2 seconds? Plaid only half a second faster than standard Model S. Tesla needs to give Plaid more substance in future iterations.

I tested each 0-60 mph with each Drive Mode in my KZbin Shorts section (real world) with GPS dragy 2.0 and I wasn’t able to achieve that. kzbin.infoKzHV1DOrEAU?si=kPxQuDbsxj8mPrA6 I believe they subtract rollout

If the Plaid 0-60 mph is 2.5 seconds, and the Model 3P 0-60mph is 3.1 seconds, then it means the Plaid does 0-60 mph in 80.65% of the time that it takes the Model 3P to do it.

DragTimes got a 2.19 second 0-60 here: kzbin.infoJL2Lay0H4FQ The Demon 170 is claimed to be 1.66 second 0-60 but on the street it does over 3 seconds. The Plaid doing sub-3 0-60 with no prep on the street is pretty good by that standard.

Great video man. I've been watching a ton of them, and this was really well done. I'm trying to decide between the Plaid and LR. You are correct with the 0-60 times. I'm not sure why Tesla advertised 1.99 and 200 mph. Still 2.5 is mad fast. I do know I'm not getting the yoke though. Good luck with your channel 👊

1.99 sec is on a prepped track with 1ft rollout….and using launch mode with cheetah stance

Yes there are a fair amount, pretty pricey for the good ones. Also installation might be a little time consuming!

Hey Nate Great looking color, congrats! Have you received the Text Size software update on your Model S Plaid? I purchased my 2023 back in June, I'm now on software version 2023.20.9 but still don't have this feature. According to Tesla this feature is currently NOT available on ANY Model S, ONLY on Model's 3 & Y. I can't see why this would be so I hope someone here has received this updated software feature. Thanks!

How is driving with the Arachind wheels. Some people said it is not as comfty as the tempest . Also, maybe it makes a difference for the 0-60, if using tempest or Arachind wheels

It feels fine, it has adaptive suspension and you can adjust ride height and all of that. No complaints!

There rear is pretty quiet for the rear cabin. I am unsure if the rear glass is dual pane

One of the cool things about the Plaid is lack of badging. Understated. In the future, I hope Tesla does a better job distinguishing the Plaid by offering Track Package as standard equipment from the factory.

This is a dream car for me but unfortunately we don't get RHD model for the UK, so i don't even think we will see Plaid on used market in the future. What a shame as a current owner of the Red Model 3 Performance, this Plaid in this colour is just delicious.

Nice car. 👍🏾 just curious…Would you go with the plaid instead on the LR? Is it just the speed & tri-motor? My only hesitation was the rear camber on the S blows out your rear tires on the 21”. They are supposedly fixing that in 2024 along with better breaks and interior lighting like Highland has.

I have driven both the LR and the Plaid and would prefer the long range because it’s plenty fast. Plaid is a flex💪🏾

Great review! I am wanting to go from Model Y to Plaid. I am 76, so it will most likely be my last car if it is what it is cracked up to be. I still have a heavy foot from my old days of drag racing. The reason I am thinking of Plaid over the S is, if I ever decide to sell it, I think it would be easier to sell if the condition is pristine. The price point of the one I want ... red, 19" wheels, and steering wheel is right at $90K. The 21" wheels are beautiful but I prefer the range. How can I pass this up?

Thank you!!! The Plaid is pretty fun for sure. I would say as far as your wheel selection, just go for what you like. Personally the difference in range isn’t worth it to me. Especially if I’m going to pay 90k plus and I don’t plan on maxing out the range every day

The frunk is not powered stock. However, there are aftermarket options for that. I see a lot of people without their front plates as well

This car has been my dream car since I first saw this Model S in freeway in Palo Alto, CA 11 years ago. I told myself “I am definitely gonna get it!”. I just got the same Model S in ultra red but not Plaid last Sunday. I LOVE IT!! I am glad I was able to get in on the reduce price drop at $75k. I wouldn’t have gotten it if it was still $100k 😅
