40oz to freedom, date rape, badfish, wrong way, Santeria, caress me down, doin time, garden grove, scarlet begonias. That’s a good start to really get to know sublime and what they are about. Glad you stumbled across them. Absolutely a legend of a band.

Bradley was a true student of music. He was a master at blending genres and references lyrics and riffs. So much respect for them. Such a shame he left us way too soon. I recently watched his son do a tribute show for charity and he sang his dad’s songs. I had to hold back tears since he was a baby when Bradley passed. So glad you reacted to Sublime. 😊

Sweet grooves! Audio was a little off in this recording but still sounded good, my bad for not sending you a link. You guys listened to April 29 1992 in a livestream (song about the LA riots) and you mentioned you hadn't heard any other Sublime but liked the reggae rock funk sound of it. Thanks for this review it was definitely vibes

Love sublime, their early catalog is a goldmine. They cross genre lines and incorporate many different styles, sometimes within the same song. Definitely keep digging through their material, you will be surprised by their versatility. "under my voodoo" "saw red" ft. Gwen Stefani "live at E's"

This band was heavily influenced by Ska and Reggae. Brad, the lead singer, his Mother took him to Jamaica in his teen years, and he became obsessed with Jamaican music after that trip. He should have stuck to the ganja though, hard drugs killed him off young.

8:25 from the stories, alot of the tkme they were at the pawn shop trying to buy back their own equipment that they'd pawned earlier for quick cash. They had alot of issues but it's why alot of their music was raw and relatable.

This is a Bob Marley cover. Brad was very inspired by Jamaican reggae. He took a sailing trip with his dad from Southern California to Jamaica and fell in love with reggae. Jamaicans showed him how to play some songs and when he came back to California he started playing it a ton. He had a deep respect for reggae. Half pint, Yellowman, U-Roy, Barrington levy, eek a mouse, Peter Tosh, Desmond Dekker, the meditations, conroy smith, sugar minott. Just to name a few of his inspiriations

They've sampled and used all the famous dancehall riddims of the time, named songs off of massive reggae classics. Most people don't hear all their work and know a couple of songs, but all their best songs and some entire albums were also done in dub versions like the reggae classic singles. Yellowman, Buju Banton, Peter Tosh to mention a few of the influences and homages.
