This addresses a couple of things I've been wrestling with. Will need to adapt some of these techniques and see if I can improve my current approach. Thanks as always for sharing not just the brilliant tools you have created, but your techniques and the thinking behind them. It's very inspiring and insightful!

I love this. I realized I was sort of doing much of this anyway and this cements more of what I need. Even if I don't transclude and just link, it would be better than not having the information on those days. One tiny thing that amused me: I love your Bob the Builder references. Muck is a Dump Truck. (He can be kind of dumb sometimes, too, but that's a separate issue. :D) Again, thanks for the info.

This is awesome. I feel like is what Roam/Logseq do natively, however. Enter it all all the Daily Notes Page - link it up. Click the link to get all your info there. Run simple queries to see tasks. I have been missing this functionality since I left Roam from Obsidian, and I do not have the skills to build what you have
@VisualPKM
@VisualPKM 2 жыл бұрын
Obsidian also has the references and backlinks that is very comparable to Roam and Logseq. Block transclusions similarly. When I was using Roam I had a set of similar scripts to tailor the experience to my workflow. I fully see your point regarding the need for technical skills. Unfortunately at this point all of these PKM platforms are quite complex and technical. If you have a similar workflow, you can start build your own workflow using the scripts I share in the video description.

This is excellent. It’s the closest I’ve seen to getting all notes to appears in simultaneous contexts, as appropriate. It’s too bad there is no automation that will eliminate the need to manually run a script. Still, thanks for the video and posting the files! Also, such a funny and odd thing to have to include a random number in the DQ query. I wonder if there’s a more elegant solution that can be implemented officially at the Obsidian level…

@@VisualPKM Thanks for your interest. My scripting skills are limited. I think the "context first" workflow suits me well, but I want to have a log in the daily note and I thought I could get it through data view, which is a more affordable method for my skills (I think so...). However, I came across your templater script for recording content between notes and found it revealing (15:12 on your video). But I was interested to know why you choose that option. Isn't it possible through the dataview plugin? Also, off topic, is there any way to modify the content of a note from the secondary embedded transclusion, like roam or logseq does? Thank you
@VisualPKM
@VisualPKM 2 жыл бұрын
@@antoniogutierrez1906 Why the block embed instead of a Data View query? In my meeting notes I often have images and multiple paragraphs of formatted text, etc. I haven't found a way to bring these over with Data View. Can you edit a block of embedded text? No, not in Obsidian. You need to CTRL+ click on it to open it in another pane, and you can do the editing there. I've found this to be a good enough process for me.

I am afraid I don't have more detailed videos on those - however if you join the Visual Thinking Discord Server (you'll find the link on the Excalidraw Obsidian splash screen) then I am happy to discuss with you - I prefer Discord because it is easier to share screenshot and code snippets there.

Excellent system in theory. I have a doubts. Duration one project is 1,5 year. Every working day meetings and inner work, which I note too. In this system it will be very large md file. How convenient this system is with long-term projects?
@VisualPKM
@VisualPKM 2 жыл бұрын
We may have different use cases in mind. I agree with you, if you are working actively on a specific project you would need to break it into smaller pieces, like workstream, sprints, phases, etc. I control a portfolio of roughly 40-50 projects in parallel. I meet most projects once a month for a steering committee meeting. The crafted example in the video might be misleading from this perspective. Back a bit over a year ago I created a showcase graph in Roam for Agile Product Development. That usecase is closer to what you might be looking for. The same logic I implemented in Roam Agile could be replicated in Obsidian... www.zsolt.blog/2021/01/agile-product-management-in-roam-part-1.html www.zsolt.blog/2021/02/agile-product-management-in-roam-part-2.html

@@VisualPKM Would you recommend such a system for mobile app development? I run a charity, were converting our web dashboard into an offline-accessible educational app, and so goals of 1.5 years+ definitely rings true for me as well. But this is what attracted me to the visual nature of Excalidraw. I had heard about it, but it was Canvas that got me to investigate further since I didn't really "get" it. I feel like I'm at that same stage with Excalibrain as well. Poco a poco... We'll get there. But either way, this is one of the greatest feats of OS I've ever seen. Quite a legacy!

Hello, I'm lost already, lol, just downloaded Obsidian for this project I have been working on for 2 years, using ancient .RTF files on windows only, 1400+, that have a massive amount of cross-reffences/call backs for this 10K word speech. I want to SEE the hyper-links across everything, and am curious to know the best way I can go about this, without making obvious counter-productive choices in hindisght. So far I see I can simply copy/paste and certain colors seem to rep what I have been using to remember the links, via BOLDED words it UNDERLINES and () and Italics, but what should I know to maximize what this Platform can really do? Thank for reading.

Hi, I'm having a major problem with your plugin: it isn't saving fast enough and when I accidentally leave the active pane, it deletes some of the notes I took, which is the least of the problems: (I have lost 2 giant notes because of this terrible autosave function)
@VisualPKM

Hi I am sorry to hear that you've lost some data. Can I ask you to open a ticket on github so I can investigate what is going on in your case? I am using Excalidraw on a daily basis for some large / complex drawings, and frequently on multiple devices. I do not experience data loss at all. Thus I think that there might be something specific to your setup that is causing the problems. Let's try to find what that is. On what platform are you using Excalidraw? What other plugins have you installed? Are you using any scripts? Is there anything special (e.g. special characters, etc.) on your drawings? Do you use Obsidian sync, or some other solution like onedrive, google drive (in some cases I had cases with other users where a non-Obsidian sync solution was causing the problems)? etc. github.com/zsviczian/obsidian-excalidraw-plugin/issues
