1:10 Jack's near-silent "oh for crying out loud" says so much about his character. Amazed Ernest is still alive, instantly saddened by the realisation that that means he's been alone here, all this time.

That first reaction just breaks my heart every time... Complete isolation for 50 years - and his first true human contact since then... I couldn't fathom just how difficult it must have been for him. The relief in his voice when he says 'It's about time'... Fantastic acting and such an amazing scene - one of my favourites!

It reminds me the scene in "Oldboy" when the protagonist is released on the rooftop of a building after being kept in isolation for 15 years and sees a suicidal guy, who begs to leve him alone and that he's worse than a beast and doesn't deserve to live, but the protagonist doesn't listen a single word and just begins to touch and smell him because it's the first fucking direct human contact he has had after 15 years, and they both just break down into tears.

@@jeremymacdonald6687 Actually, literal is the correct word for this. Literal refers to something that is real, as in 'If you go outside without protection during the winter in Alaska, you will literally freeze to death.', although they should've used the word 'literally' in this instance to make it a little more grammatically correct.

The place had been vacant for over ten thousand years, and the Four Races would have stripped the place bare of anything that could be salvaged. The holographic projector was most likely left because it was fixed in the floor. On the other hand there had to have been a ZPM somewhere in the building at one point to allow the Asgard to return to Othala in the Ida Galaxy. Pity at this point Stargate Command didn't know the things existed or to look for one in Ancient ruins.

Yeah. I bought the DVD's. I've watched it all the way through at least half a dozen times. I don't always watch all the episodes though. Some of them I don't like. When I've already seen them several times if I'm working my way though the series - there's some of them I skip. But mostly I really enjoy them. Now - a big part of that is Amanda Tapping - when she was young. She was just gorgeous. I never really got into any of the others. The thing with SG-1 is that all of the 4 core actors were really great in their role and the supporting actors were great too. I can't say that for the others. Watching Rainbow Sun Franks (yes - that's his real name) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Sun_Francks was like hearing nails on a chalk board - and I'm old enough to have done that. Rachel Lutrell did nothing for me. She wasn't a negative but she wasn't a positive either. Nothing like Amanda was on SG-1. I used to love to watch Amanda's Ass as she walked through the Star Gate in the SG-1 Intro. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH2VpJ2Oisl6Zs0&pp=ygUKc2ctMSBpbnRybw%3D%3D

It's a world with oxygen atmosphere, which means it has to have life. In Stargate worlds have been shown to be broadly biologically compatible because we have seen humans living on wide variety of planets, so presumably, as long as it's a life bearing planet you can probably live off of it in the SG verse. If I recall correctly, this facility is next to the ocean which is generally a good source for food.
