I live in a rural farming town where most farmers rely on old diesel utes. Their unmatched reliability, impressive fuel range, and ease of maintenance make them indispensable. Remember if you buy an EV, and speed at any point not only does your insurance go up (because they track ur driving behaviour), but if you try claim insurance they will and have, denied insurance pay out because a year ago you were speeding, which is termed 'wreckless driving'. Everything they can track in an EV, has been categorically proven that they track. Including who you travel with and every conversation, radio channel, music is tracked and sold to 3rd party data buyers. Your car can be hacked travelling on the highway to lock ur brakes up...... think about the consequences of that alone! The Chinese HATE their EV's! The videos are EVERYWHERE of them discussing what a scam they are and what a waste of money.

BS, insurance companies are not tracking anything, where is your proof
@Rose_SmidtАй бұрын
@camsmith4047 Sadly I'm going to waste time answering the your dull comment to help start you off, to get interneting..........begin your painful search (because i know its hard to actually type key words into any search engine or X if it involves actual reading instead of reactive & poorly thought out comments. Start with the integration of telematics & vehicle data in insurance assessments & vehicle data collection capabilities of EV's. Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers have faced legal challenges concerning the collection and use of driver data. 3 notable cases include but certainly not limited to the below examples...... Tesla's Privacy Intrusion Allegations: In April 2023, a Tesla owner filed a class-action lawsuit alleging that Tesla employees shared invasive videos and images recorded by customers' car cameras without consent. By October 2023, the case was directed to arbitration and subsequently closed. General Motors (GM) Data Sharing Lawsuits: In May 2024, GM faced multiple class-action lawsuits accusing the company of collecting driver data without consent and sharing it with insurance companies. These lawsuits claim that GM's practices violated consumer privacy rights. Texas Lawsuit Against GM: In August 2024, the state of Texas sued GM, alleging the unauthorized collection and sale of driver data, including location information, without obtaining proper consent from vehicle owners. The lawsuit seeks compensation, fines, and the destruction of improperly collected data under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. While these cases highlight significant concerns over data privacy in EVs, as of now, there are no public records indicating that plaintiffs have secured favorable verdicts in court. Many of these cases are ongoing, have been settled out of court, or directed to arbitration, making it challenging to determine definitive outcomes. In other words the overwhelming majority of cases are settled OUT of court to avoid widespread knowledge of secretive, underhanded and possibly corrupt practices. All of the above will only get worse once digital ID's are made mandatory linking your EV & ALL your data into one tidy package to be taken advantage of.

I own a small automotive workshop in NZ. We are already seeing Chinese vehicles failing our annual safety inspection due to rust, at less than 5 years old, no thanks. The first mass production EV to be sold here, the 2010 Nissan Leaf, is now old enough that many need a new battery at around $17k. The car cost around $60k new and now can be found for around $3k. But you have to charge it every day as the range is below 60km. If you bought a Pulsar around the same time at about $30k it's range today is still in excess of 500km on a tank of fuel, these can also be found for around $3k. That's an extra loss of $30k on the Leaf without turning a wheel. Then we have to consider that the Pulsar has at least another 100,000km of life left in it where the Leaf is almost ready for the scrap yard. If I want to travel from Whangarei to Auckland in the Pulsar it would take around 2.5 hours, the Leaf would easily double that due to charging stops. NZ as a country produces somewhere around 0.01% of global greenhouse gasses, even if we halved that to 0.005% there would be a negligible effect on "global warming". As for China remotely shutting down vehicles, with a bit more research you will find that they are not the only ones. www.motorbiscuit.com/new-law-allegedly-could-allow-police-shut-down-vehicle-universal-kill-switch/

There are some striking parallels between the introduction of BEVs now and the introduction of cars in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Both introductions were resisted due to safety concerns, the economic impact, cultural attachments to previous modes of transport, infrastructure challenges and environmental impact concerns. In the 20th century, the car won out and in the 21st century, BEVs will do the same. As an individual, you can swim against the tide for as long as you like but the overall result will be the same. Battery-powered vehicles will replace ICE vehicles, no doubt about it.

i have a 20yr old merc that is bulletproof, but if it was an EV i probably would have had to replace the battery unit twice now....estimate that at 15k each time for any EV and then what about the disposal process for these batteries ????

@RossReviewsau I remember when the government was giving all sorts of incentives to go LPG and it was 10c a litre. When enough were in the system the prices went up.

The majority of Australians keep voting for the legacy parties who BOTH hold the same policies once you scratch the paint offf the surface. Of course, over 50% of Australians have their fingers in the pie of the current thing, so they are always going to shun independent parties and candidates. It takes a brave person to acknowledge that their personal benefit is harming the rest of the nation and then act on it. If you think Dutton and the LIberals will fix this problem without creating a raft of news ones, you haven't been paying attention to the last four decades of politics in Australia. Labor, LIberals, Greens. Give them all the flick. Honestly, it's the only way Australia can fix its chronic political problems.

You are 100% correct and if you look into it a bit further you find out the electric car takes 7 years before it of sets the pollution it takes to make it in the first place, this is what they are not telling the public. They never talk about the the hidden pollution of the electric car,solar and wind farms

Australian Government wants to control household A/C switches, to protect & maintain the base load power levels on the grid... While also wanting to strain it further, by forcing as many people as possible into EVs, which they later won't let them charge at home.
@alexpalmer776Ай бұрын
It’s all about choices like kicking Bowen out of office. Bowen just wants Australians to buy CCP built EVs … why? What is the financial gain in that and who is receiving financial benefit? He appears to be very bias and desperate to provide an advantage to the CCP made cars at the expense of all Australians.
@alexlevshin608729 күн бұрын
The Labour Party would like to be linked to the CCP Australia being SOLD off to the CCP we are losing a lot of good ground that CCP now owns so to make it complete the CCP will own All the cars in Australia I don`t want to Live here any MORE !!!! it`s all going to the Dogs

The last New Zealand government did something similar in 2021 which they called the "Clean Car Discount" it also became known as "The Ute Tax." Those wanting to buy an electric vehicle could receive a rebate on the price of a new vehicle up to $5600 I believe, those wanting to buy a ute received a tax added to the price which was around $5600. At the end of 2023 we changed the government and at the start of 2024 the Clean Car Discount and Ute Tax were gone. Our new government went one further and now require EV owners to pay Road User Charges (RUC). To explain how RUC is collected in NZ, petrol drivers pay the tax at the pump when filling up the car, diesel drivers don't pay this tax at the pump which makes diesel cheaper here however diesel owners are required to purchase road user miles and display a label showing the current mileage purchased, the cost is based on the size of the vehicle with trucks obviously paying the most. EV drivers were exempt from paying RUC, this was put in place in the early 2010s when there were few EVs on the road, now EV drivers have to pay this tax. My advice to the Aussies would be at your next election to vote to change your government like we did.

@Trev-b1m Unfortunately that will be the tactic to push ICE owners to EV. Like cigarette smoking and soon to be alcohol. Make it unaffordable.
@georgethompson4283Ай бұрын
If you look at the way cities towns and suburbs are being developed in Aus they are very much in line with the so called 15 minute cities which are being pushed in Europe and the UK. This along with the cost of buying/owning an EV, plus improvements in public transport, the rise of electric scooter rentals in every major town, cheap taxis, Uber etc, and the massively expensive changes needed to infrastructure is telling me the long term plans are for ordinary people not to own private vehicles.
@chriskasa2816Ай бұрын
hi mam you missed the cost of replacing the batteries every 5 years $12,000 to $30,000 plus or the reduction in klm range which is part of recharging any type of battery over time. ALSO you missed the future ev klm tax to replace current taxes and excise duty that currently goes to STATE AND FEDERAL GOVTS.
@MalooBadgerАй бұрын
Good point, new battery cost. Add the efficiency of an old battery is less, any tradesman with a battery power tool will confirm this, so more energy/money to charge for less work done, so more cost per mile.

it all went downhill when the unions got into the FORD/HOLDEN/ TOYOTA labour industry and started asking 100k a year for a process line job, combine that with the goverment giving incentives to import cars from overseas over their local, combined with stupid taxs on evs's and GM stealing all of holdens profits. it was a recipie for disaster.
