You're essentially saying, "If you build it, they will come" is how visionaries think. That means the end goal of building whatever you're working on should've been for other people's benefit from the jump, not really your own benefit. Where does the builder (the artist) benefit if they aren't also doing it for themselves?
@MusicMoneyMakeoverАй бұрын

@@uraelb why does it matter if others relate to what you're expressing? what do you want for them, besides to like your music? or is that all?
@johnlee-fe4ycАй бұрын
@@uraelb i hear what u saying, he definitely was saying alot of real shiy but i dont agree when he says make art for other people. art is personal, and our unique perspectives is what gives us our edge, so you should always write from your perspective and create what you love and think is good. forget what the world thinks, the rest will fall into place

I love you man but I’m not too sure how I feel about this one. Imo as artists the biggest thing we have is our opinions and our tastes. And a lot of times people don’t know what they want until you show them. And if we acquiesce our vision to what we THINK other people want instead of sticking to our guns, then it starts to dilute the reason why people look to us in the first place. Love it or hate it, an artist’s job is to stick to their vision. Like you said, the ultimate goal isn’t always monetary.
@1almostblueАй бұрын
Actually never mind I finished the video and I think we’re both getting at the same things 😂 I think 11:10 is where I have the biggest issue. Your art should never be just about you and I love the analogy that you say about having “good audio dope” but also you need to be able to identify what is and ISNT good audio dope. And then refine that shit until it gets better and better!
@AGuy-x3dАй бұрын
Completely agree you are 100% correct on this point
@willlicks8584Ай бұрын
Dave chapelle said it like this; "only do what you believe in, only keep what the audience believes in." So, yeah, stick to your vision. but the crowd isn't wrong. if the masses aren't feeling your shit, then the masses aren't feeling your shit. 300 million people can't be wrong
@mariomillsАй бұрын
Exactly, why be a sell out to be the top 1%.....I rather enjoy my music than making more sales..
@willlicks8584Ай бұрын
@@mariomills it's not about selling out. make five songs that you truly care about: one of them will get more attention. lean into that style, give the audience more of that. it doesn't mean start doing country if that's popular this week. But if you keep doing some shit that's not working, then adjust. Nobody's asking you do to commercials for Exxon-Mobil, relax.

This is the fundamental of the artists and producers that actually make it - We understand that music (itself) was never made to be sold, it was associated with divinity so the last thing you should be thinking of is yourself. For if you take care of others (in our personal scenario an entire generation) then you will be supported throughout that process. Whether your in music, photography or countless other arts where this rule can be applied, this is more of an individual journey. Everyone has their quest

It's a balance. Ultimately you want to refine your skillset for ease of consumption by the public without sacrificing your artistic values.
@tyisntАй бұрын
I think he’s more so saying how can you translate your message in a way that resonates with people and doesn’t take too much brain power to be hooked by your music in order to gain fans. I believe that there’s an important balance it takes to succeed and build a great vision out with your music. It takes a lot of letting go of ego and realizing that there are tools to push your success further and keeping the listener in mind when approaching the music is a tool, not a sacrifice. Of course you should write for yourself, that’s where the greatest things come from, but don’t think Kendrick wrote a song like sing about me, I’m dying of thirst without considering the listeners ears and the bigger picture beyond just writing such a personal song for himself on his debut album about his story coming from Compton and experiencing so much loss and turmoil. This example can go for any great artist you love that applied the idea of balancing selfishness and selflessness on the record.

Yes you afe correct I had a visions but it was all about Me I had everything ready to go, the website the graphic design but the running of all these different tasks and what products or services I was to offer was just to much, I couldn't do it and gave up on Music. I quit music for about 5 years instead focused of voice acting making comedy sketch shows, but while recording them and act was great it sounded good I was back to the same situation as I was with the music. So this this time I starting again but with the intention to collaborate as much as possible, and I know I can make money if I pay people to do tasks hut they won't work for Me if they don't believe in My vision, they have to want My brand to succeed and want to be part of it.

You need to learn how to delegate. However, you can't just ask someone you have to tell them how you want it done and show them the process of how you like to do it step by step. Once they see this then they can decide if they want to help you or not.

*FYI: There are times when it comes to building a team, you might be in the wrong place! You might have to change your territory and move, in order to find folk whom can see at least in your direction. Example, you live in Little Rock Arkansas and you are "so called" BLACK, where they only listen to TRAP/ SLUT RAP/MURDER MUSIC/GOSPEL and this new fake BLUES stuff... Even if you fit those genres, because if the socially engineered mindset of that demographic, there is a huge lack of folk whom are **#competent**, have skill sets to pull from that would benefit your career and having vision outside of the force-fed normality's, so to even see you. Then if you are not already a figure, they will generally disregard you - unless the WIGHT MAN says that you are someone.... So understand you might have to move to a market that has a broader since of self and community etc.*
