My hubby and I are looking for our own van either readily converted or an actual automatic van we can start from scratch in a basic way. I had to show my o/h how we could survive without putting power cables behind walls and heated floors, fancy lights and kitchen... we already have gear from going to car shows so we have a cooker, fridge, bag in a bucket loo, power banks n allsorts but we are quite happy buying ready made

Double insulate if you intend to sleep in that bunk in cold weather. You will notice the lack of insulation when you are trying to sleep and stay warm. Good job so far!!

Old cleaner here. If you get a spray bottle and mix 1/2 and 1/2 bleach and water and spray it onto your green stained roof outside and let it sit it will look better and not so mold stained.

Alex - Great job on this camper! I do suggest not using a vinyl or plastic wallpaper. They trap any moisture in the walls and then you get mold. Especially in RV's

@@jbohling717 I googled it. It allows the walls to breathe. There was an article about VOCs being emitted by wood products as well as bamboo! Who knew? I now know more about wallpapering campers and RVs! Alex, you may want to replace all that carpet some day! Not now but when your budget allows.

I’ve run out of superlatives regarding your work on the van, I think you know how much you’re admired in that direction. I want to applaud your production and presenting skills. I takes a special person who can present to a camera but, make it seem like you’re chatting to a mate. Sometimes I almost think you are going to say “just grab the end of that whilst I put the first screws in” 😂 I’ll be very surprised if you haven’t already or, in the very near future get approached by a TV company to present a ‘show’ of some sort. Are you using 4 way stretch carpet for the walls and ceiling. It's good for hiding imperfection and easy to work with. Looks nice and gives a cosy feel.

Make sure the balcony bed area is well insulated for comfort. You will also find that the more wall cupboards, the less clutter in your way, and do not worry quite so much about emptying that toilet, it just smells strongly of Elsan blue, it is not that bad. ! ❤

Great progress Alex, personally id get it almost finished before using it, but i can understand how keen you are to use it. Id also put the extra insulation above the bed area, you will appreciate it on colder nights. I wish i lived nearby, as i'd happily give the roof a good scrub 😊

Wow, job is getting done and it is looking great too. You will soon have a place to sleep, eat, and work all in one. The only thing I would suggest is putting a piece of wood on the wall that will brace the cabinet up on either side so that it does not fall off on you while you work there. Maybe I am a bit cautious but sometimes it is worth an extra bit. Have a great day

Alex, have you thought about putting a coat of paint on the walls and ceiling? You could then put the wall covering on. That might help the wall covering adhere better and also make it easier to remove should you want to change it in the future.

I recommend getting a toilet S.O.G. basically- it's a 12v toilet vent system. - when you open the toilet a fan system activates via a switch and vents the toilet smell to exterior of van. NO MORE toilet smell. Used these for years - game changer

A SOG blows your stink right into the vans parked beside you. You might not smell it, but it's very unpleasant for your neighbours.

@copilot9247 well, if the pitches are way too close together then sometimes yes, occasionally. If you are more than 2/3 meters away then almost hardly any chance it will smell. If you pitch a table within 2 meters of the sog then yes you will smell it. But it's absolutely not hard to avoid the smell of a sog. Also if the carbon filter is swapped out regular then it helps avoids this. - But honestly vented into open air is the best solution - a bad smelling toilet confined inside a van can linger for hours. . A vented smell outside, maybe a couple of minutes. Game changer. Also it only vents while in use, not all the time. I know some people who never even use their toilet inside the van so don't have this problem

I discovered a UK-based company that offers a 4-way stretch carpet with thermal layering and sound-blocking features. You can find more details about it on KZbin. It's worth considering for the sleeping platform, at least.
