Alonso has a set system i.e. 3 centre backs, 2 sixes and wing backs that are high and given license to roam. Granted we don't know if it's his philosophy or one adapted to Leverkusen's players. If it is his philosophy, would you be keen to see Liverpool play with a back 5? We all know how that's generally viewed in the premier League. On the other hand, a modified version of 5 at the back is coming back into fashion. Inzaghi at Inter, Motta at Bologna and Alonso at Leverkusen. All looking to have successful seasons.
